We don’t have any money at the moment, or a 1st round pick, kinda makes it an issue to bring anyone in.

I know we will clear some cap space if we cut guys like Gary but we have to extend Walker, Kraft next year and probably Watson once we’re allowed.

It’s the Packers way.

Expect to mostly run it back and pray for better health and ST play.

For in-house extensions, the only three really on the table are Quay, Enagbare, and Rhyan. Rasheed, Doubs, and Willis are all gone. Kinnard probably gets tendered, maybe Wilson too. Everyone else will either walk or come back on a cheap deal, like what they did with John Fitzpatrick last year.

Gary and Jenkins are for sure cut. Diggs is interesting; wouldn’t be surprised if they try to work out a cheap deal to bring him back. Hopefully Nixon and McManus are gone too.

ufa: enagbare because he's the second-best edge we have, rhyan because who else do we have that can start at center, quay because he's one of the few defensive players we have that doesn't suck. maybe doubs if he's not overpriced.

rfa: cox, ford, kinnard, whyle, maybe wilson.

the rest: maybe melton for special teams, maybe nixon if he takes backup cb money.

Of the UFAs:

Enagbare maybe. Let him hit the market and see what he can get. They may have interest in bringing Welch back but he's been up and down the PS for them so I think the team is just lukewarm. Niemann was a core ST guy, again, not sure about the money.

RFAs:

I'd prioritize Cox out of that group. Ridder may be a sneaky add here as QB2. I like Kinnard as depth, and Anderson has been a core ST guy but I don't know the value.

ERFAs:

No reason not to bring back Hadden, Melton and Jennings, should be cheap.

Cuts:

Gary, Jenkins, Nixon can all go. Jacobs is interesting, I never thought of him. Not that you want to kick the can but maybe they can do something to lower his cap hit.

Unrestricted free agents: Doubs - no, Enagbare - yes, FitzPatrick - no, Niemann - yes if cheap, Rhyan - yes if cheap, QWalker - yes, RWalker - not a chance in hell, Welch - yes if cheap, Willis - no.

Restricted free agents: Anderson - yes, CBrooks - yes, Cox Jr. - no, Ford - no, Kinnard - no, Mosby - no, Ridder - no, Whyle - no, Wilson - yes. (Don't know what the tender amt is these days so maybe a couple more no's. Guys like Cox, Kinnard, Ridder, and Whyle I don't tender but see if I can bring back on minimum or cheap deals.)

Exclusive rights free agents: Hadden - yes, Jennings - yes, Melton - yes, Smith - yes (yes to all because ERFA tender is basically a vet minimum salary with no bonus and zero CAP implications if you cut them later)

Contract Casualties: Gary ($19.5 million) - GONE, Jacobs ($11.5 million) - stay, Jenkins ($20 million) - GONE, Nixon ($5 million) - GONE, McManus ($1.9 million) - GONE

I'd get rid of Diggs because of the contract and would ask the likely new DC if he wants him back at a reduced number. I'd see if I can get a deal done with Quay. I'd get a deal done with Wyatt to reduce his cap number by maybe up to $10mil. Also see if I can get a long-term deal done on Kraft, not for CAP reasons, but to lock down and secure a potential team leader.

Don't want to hijack the thread - which is a great idea! - but what do people think specifically about Walker? I think he's the really tough one here.

Pros, he's a 1st round pick, he's improved, we have no one else to play the mike.

Cons, he's not great, he has weak points that haven't improved, GB has limited cap space and other, better players to prioritize and he may be more of a luxury than a necessity.

To me whatever they do with him comes with a cost.

I bet we sign Diggs on a small prove-it deal and draft a CB, have some competition next year.

Gary, Elgton, Rasheed, Doubs, Kingsley probably gone. Morgan starts at LT.

Coin flip on whether they keep Rhyan, would love to just cut bait on Banks and sign Rhyan for cheaper to play LG. Then have to find a true center. Maybe you just keep Rhyan there but it’s not his natural position which didn’t work with Elgton this year.

Quay is a coin flip but I bet he’s gone and Hopper/McDuffie move up on the depth chart.

I think they’ll be in the market to potentially trade a late round pick for a DT and ILB or try to find a cheap vet who doesn’t cost comp picks. Maybe a RB too. Those are positions where you can often find guys to be solid contributors for cheap.

Overall though I think you’re looking at a similar roster next year. I think when healthy it’s good enough, you also hope you get progression out of your young guys to make the team better. Still a young team. Hopefully we hit on a pick or two could make all the difference.

I think we can find an answer at DT but the o-line and CB room will be the big questions. Morgan needs to play to his draft position, Belton too. And you need to find out who’s playing center. At CB with Diggs, Keisan, Valentine, Hobbs and Bullard you hope you can piece it together.

He's gone, too much $ for a guy that makes a ton of mental errors each week.

We obviously cannot continue with McManus. Someone solid at kicker would be great.

Desperately need a CB1. Nixon and Valentine are not it but are fine as depth corners. Upgrade here, I think, would make man coverage a more viable option, although I'm not sure Halfley believes in man coverage anyway

Cannot run it back with Quay Walker IMO, rated 74 out of 88 LBs according to PFF, which matches up with my eye test, he does nothing well. He is abhorrent in the run game, which I figure that's fine if he's primarily a coverage backer but he sucks at that too and Loveland ate his lunch putting up career numbers

Need help on the D line and O line. Losing Wyatt was a problem on defense. Without Parsons, our pass rush evaporated, and our run game really struggled against better defense. You should add new blood to your lines every year, regardless of whether you're a well-run franchise.

Huge Gap

I think we could use a better RB2 as I am very low on Wilson and the other guys aren't any better / available
