I'm bored and we have two 1st round picks.....Draft sim 2019

Strangely enough, there are a few cases where a guy is better at a college level than a guy behind him, and if they both go in the same draft, the #2 actually is better in the NFL. A lot of this has to do with drafting a guy for his strengths, whereas in college, a guy often plays out of his natural position for the good of the team.

It's not a constant, but it does happen at times.

while I agree and this has happened, this situation is a little different. Fant was the man at Iowa, Hockenson came on strong and won the starting spot through the year. He went on to win the Mackey award and is the 1st soph to ever do that. He will be the better TE in the NFL imo.

Fants coach also said that fant is a "specialist" and not a TE like Hockenson. Im not knocking Fant, but hes got a lot of work to do to be a 3 down TE. Fant and Gesicki are a lot alike. both will test amazing at the combine, but still need to fine tune their game. then again rook tes rarely make a diff

That depends what you want your TE to do. If you want an in-line blocker it’s not Fant. If you want a guy to be more of receiver and can split wide Fant is more than adequate If you want the latter Fant is a 3 down TE. Scheme and system matter

what depends?? yes fant can split out. so can Hockenson. Hockenson can do everything fant does plus more. I wouldnt spend a high pick on a TE that's just a big wr at this point. Fant will be fine at what he does but I don't want him in the 1st or high 2nd. the only point I was making was Fant raises a red Flag when a soph came in and took is snaps, and killed it. Watch some Iowa games and you can see who the better player is at this point.

Again it depends on what you want from a TE Fant will never be a reliable blocker. Hock will. If you want to create mismatches downfield I take Fant. Fant is more athletic, better vertical and more speed. Hock is stronger, maybe a better route runner.

Iowa has been for years a run dominant offense much more suited to Hock so I get why he got more snaps. Personally I don’t take either in round 1. Who will be a better pro? Depends on scheme and how they are used

agreed I wouldn't take either in the 1st... actually you better be the next HoFer if I would touch many tes in the 1st these days. I get the scheme stuff trust me. Im just taking the guy that can do it all over the guy that is good at one thing.

I would agrue the more athletic. Fant might have a great vert (so did buckey hodge) and speed but Hock isn't far behind. Id like to see their 3 cones also. Both are good athletes. really good. Hock just looks like he is gonna be the next big thing. a lot of Zach ertz to me. Fant... meh I guess we will see at the combine. Hock is the better TE imo.

I believe this is a two draft fix. So I am going after what fits but who I think is best value on the board.

I don't get it either with Allen. The only thing I can figure is that their algorithm says the Packers don't need an OLB enough to make him a priority pick. To me, it's a darned good choice.

If their algorithm says the Packers don’t need an OLB, then their algorithm is broken and seriously needs to be put out of service! tc(
