From Our Blog: Pre-Camp Team Breakdown by Position: First Introducing the Packer QB's

Hundley has some fatal flaws and very bad habits. Watched several UCLA games last year.

His accuracy is wildly inconsistent. He will go through long stretches where he will be off with the placement or timing of the ball. He is quick to run when nothing is available and typically doesn't go through several reads during a play. He snapped the ball almost entirely out of shotgun in college so he will have to adapt to taking the ball from under center at the next level. He gets baited by defensive backs when he is asked to make a lot of pre-snap reads and then forces things when he doesn't have too.

If he ever plays in his first 2 years god help us. I think Tolzien is a serviceable back up that can work if you provide a solid run game.

Probly why he dropped to us.

If anyone can make him a player, Mike can. No way they release or PS him imo.

The time we saw Tolzien for any length of time was in 2013 when he had to go in for Wallace and had no clue what he was doing. From all accounts this offense is complicated and you need time to sort it all out. He must be doing better now if the coaches decided to go with him and allow Flynn to walk. We'll soon see if the coaches were right and Scott will be a better backup than Matt was.

He looked ok last preseason. Still it's on him and Hundley to show what they've got. Hundley's accuracy and timing should improve with footwork and experience in the system.

I don't see Blanchard making the 53. If there's an injury, he might get PS'd. Then again if Tolzien gets hurt, Blanchard might be more ready as a backup than Hundley.

Blanchard should have at least one year of PS eligibility left. From SB Nation:

First, a player must have a minimum of six games - up from the current three games - on a Practice Squad in order for that season to count as one of the player's three permissible seasons of Practice Squad service.

Second, each club will be permitted to sign a maximum of two Practice Squad players who have earned no more than two accrued seasons of free agency credit. Absent this exception, a player who has earned one or more accrued seasons would not be eligible for a Practice Squad unless the player spent fewer than nine games on a club's 46-player active list in each of his accrued seasons.

I think Hundley will be on the active roster though NOT the active game day roster. Blanchard on PS one more year and next year is a free for all as we will make the moves necessary to defend out NFL Championship. (Even if it means cutting Hundley next year)br)

If Hundley is kept on the active there will he no way they carry a PS QB. Hundley would get scout team reps leaving nothing for a PS QB.

Will have to wait to see what happens in camp. If Hundley doesn't improve and Blanchard keeps improving then there is very low probability someone would pick Hundley up and he can safely be signed to PS where he belongs.

If Hundley is cut I don't think they will carry a 3rd QB on the active roster.

Tolzien will be the backup, and should be. He showed last year he improved a lot in training camp and preseason. He will be a fine backup. I think they keep 3 on the 53 man roster, so Rodgers, Tolzien and Blanchard or Hundley, with the other going to the practice squad. I believe they learned a lesson a couple years back with the QB issues for backups. Hundley being cut or sent to the practice squad wont change them keep 3 on the 53 man roster.
