Bucks vs Hawks Eastern Conference Finals Thread

They did nothing different, same high screen and roll. Difference was Holiday had issues staying in front. Bud then went to a half court double and it helped a bit
Early on when they were having success, the high screen and roll were all moving screens and the Hawks screeners were very physical - a lot of use of their hands as well. I think they eventually figured out how to adjust.
The big thing here is we've seen a couple of times now in this post-season, where they Bucks didn't just fold when they got down, and actually kept fighting through Q4. And they didn't fold when they went down 2-0 to the Nets.
We knew that eventually Middleton would hit some shots . . . he was obviously clutch late last night.

The issue I have is Lopez kept dropping in the paint like game 1 inside of challenging at the line. To me the key adjustment and it was risky was doubling Young when he crossed half court.

Agree on not folding, that’s Tucker and Holiday in a nutshell. They bring that mental toughness

I remember them showing a replay where Lopez started to come out, then for some reason dropped back towards the basket and let Young shoot uncontested. And yes, the defensive toughness that comes with Tucker and Holiday sets a tone.
If the Bucks can come out strong early in game 4, I could see the Hawks getting flustered and fold. Young, while a great player. he in particular doesn't seem to react well when things are not going well for him/team.

Young is cocky. Granted, he has reason to be. Yet, that doesn't help his team win. It can work against them. The Bucks were looking to take the shimmy out of him last night. Unfortunately it was an official's shoe that did it.

That’s why I’m guessing it’s Lopez option to drop or challenge, it’s maddening. I agree on your take on Young. He’s just learning but if the competition committee adjusts the rule on him creating contact it’s not going to be an easy adjustment. He’s good but he’s not Steff

Young is way too emotional and reacts to everything. When it's going well, he's got that arrogant, cocky smile on his face; when it's going bad, you see the anger. He's young, hopefully he will mature. He certainly is talented.

There's a reason you don't get down on a player like Middleton. About the time you decide to write him off, he steps up and takes control of the game, and turns it into a win. This is how I feel about him, Giannis, Holiday, and pretty much all members of this Bucks 8 man rotation. They can reach in, and find something special, when it's needed.

Don't expect it to happen all the time, but often enough that they can be in it until the end.

i hope you are right. but on the flip-ide, there's this:

Game by game, the Hawks are following the same script of their Eastern Conference semifinal series win over Philadelphia. Just as in that series, the Hawks split two games on the road before losing their first home game. They won the series in seven games.

"We've been in this position before and we'll be ready for Game 4," Gallinari said.

I am guessing Holiday has a decent night shooting next game it seems after a down game these guys have been bouncing back pretty decent.
