Looking at the history of these moves, not exactly the kind of stuff that makes one confident about the decision. Then I think about how the Packers made a short move up and got Rodgers. You're playing with fire that early in the draft. Too many early pick QBs never make the grade in the NFL.Interesting context for this kind of trade. With the caveat that every situation is different, so far this kind of big move up hasn't paid off.
The Packers did no such thing, they sat tight and he dropped right to them. They did move up to get Love, which will also bite them in its own way.Looking at the history of these moves, not exactly the kind of stuff that makes one confident about the decision. I meant Love, not Rodgers. He's still a question mark. The Packers did no such thing, they sat tight and he dropped right to them. They did move up to get Love, which will also bite them in its own way.
What's risky about the 49ers move up is that you're jumping up to get the 2nd or 3rd best prospect at the position. Now in recent history Josh Allen was QB3 off the board and he looks like the best of the bunch that year (no knock on Baker), so it can work out, but historically it plays out like you're giving up a lot to get a taste at the crumbs.
Agree the player is a question mark, but I think the move up for him is already a dud.I meant Love, not Rodgers. He's still a question mark.
Said before SF is not off the market trading for Rodgers when it happens be it 2022 or 2023. If it's 2022 you could have a very limited market for Rodgers. I don't think you will have lots of teams wanting to trade for a 38 year old QB who likely wants a new contract to pay him top dollar.Everyone in the league knows everyone else's business, if SF was hardcore looking for a QB this badly, GB should've offered Rodgers to SF for that package, or at least a part of it.
You've got a good defensive core on team friendly or rookie deals, you have your offensive playmakers on rookie deals, now is exactly the time to add the 38 year old QB with a couple good years left. Murphy can't act half-pregnant with Rodgers here, you need to have a plan and also act like you have a plan.Said before SF is not off the market trading for Rodgers when it happens be it 2022 or 2023.
