2025 Badger Football Thread

Now Derek Jensen is leaving through the portal

Starting Left Tackle gets hurt so position is open. I would have been chomping at the bit trying to get that spot or take somebody's spot so they could move over. Times are different.

They just signed a stud 2026 QB, maybe the best prospect in 15 plus years. This is a stupid move and shows that this staff is clueless... a 4 star freshman you're trying to redshirt with another stud behind him. One of those two won't stay

Is the guy they bring in though just a senior for 2025 and that's it just to add depth for a year?

247 Sports is saying that this year is Simmons last season. I'm not sure if that's correct, but it's what they are reporting. Carter Smith isn't expecting to start this year anyway. With both Edwards and Simmons moving on after this season, Smith and O'Neil will be duking it out for the '26 season.

The question for me is, if this is truly his final season, why go to UW to just sit on the bench most of the year. $???

Probably getting more NIL to be a backup then starting at at a small school like he was

Again, you're missing it completely....it's perception. The Badger staff seems to be remiss that these kids are all free agents. If you're going to keep your star recruits in key positions, like it or not, you have to coddle them.

If Fick wants to stop the bleeding and keep his job he better get over the Catholic HS hard ass wresler bit, those days are over.

I kinda figured.

I think a lot of the portal are guys that haven't met the challenge of stepping up and thinking the school kept them down an didn't give them a fair shake, when what it is the pyramids getting pointier and each higher level is smaller. Sone stars at the level below don't even have a foothold on the next level.

Or, maybe, just maybe, it will work. Weed out some, but create a tremendous kick ass hard working culture.

You're probably right. But, we're not really going to get that amazing talent anyways - that you have to coddle.
