I'm not really being a hard ass.

The kid wants to leave, I say let him leave. And, I'm not getting worked up about it. If you don't want to be here, there's the door. We'll take care of who stays here. That's not hard ass, it's accepting the situation and dealing with it. The kid made is choice to leave. Wisconsin has to make its choice to take care of who is there.

And, in some ways it is poaching, somebody somewhere was probably in his ear about greener pastures. But, again, he can go, so let him, show him the door, and concentrate on who you have and who is coming in.
 
Worse news is Kevin Heywood is out for the year needing ACL surgery so Wisconsin doesn't have its current top left tackle.
 
Koziol and Hamper hitting the portal is not good news, especially Koziol, but the really bad news is losing Heywood for the season. He was far and away their best left tackle and they're still a little thin and young on o-line in the 2 deep.
