2023 NFL Season Thread

Reports that Roger Goodell and owners are close to a contract extension and could be approved at next weeks owners meeting. Goodell is 64 years old and a possible extension could be his last as past extensions had been 5 years in length.
He’ll make a ridiculous amount of money, the owners will get richer, and the game will continue to get worse…

Heard he could be making $60 million a year now with all bonus money figured in.

Yet the league is too cheap for full time refs. Disgusting
Thing is most refs would quit if you hired full time refs as most have high paying corporate jobs they do so they would have zero interest in giving up those.

Under Goodell's stewardship, the game has now become a thing where when a great or important play happens, fans don't cheer, they look around to see if a flag has been thrown; and when a team signs or keeps a good player, fans don't celebrate, they b!tch about the money and the salary cap implications. Lawyers and accountants have taken over the way the sport is consumed and that has absolutely poisoned it.

Owners are making record profits each year and team values have gone crazy under him. That's all owners care about as long as both keep going up they will be happy. Owners could care less if fans are happy or not.
