Take it for what it is because we all know Florio can be full of it a lot but he was reporting that in off-season the Packers "promised" Rodgers to trade him but ML went to team/person told them that Love was not ready and they can't move Rodgers.
As messed up this FO I just can't see them making that move with all of the financial implications attached. Thats not the "Green Bay Way"Take it for what it is because we all know Florio can be full of it a lot but he was reporting that in off-season the Packers "promised" Rodgers to trade him but ML went to team/person told them that Love was not ready and they can't move Rodgers.
This is the “Last Dance”. Like it or not it’s not just on field performance but it economics. With his cap hit next year it would take multiple void years to make it cap compliant and that’s just not going to happen and rightfully so. You can’t just kick the can down the road. If Love fails or flops? Cut bait and draft the new guy again and / or find a short term bandaidWhat we have to think about is if they all concur that Love just plain hasn't got what it takes to take the reins after this year. What do they do? They've committed to letting Rodgers walk away. Would they continue on course risking looking like totally utter idiots by sticking with Love, or would they secretly grovel at Rodgers' feet, offering him a lucrative extension, to keep him around until he decided he wanted to ride into the sunset?
Nothing, at this point, is off the table on this whole thing.
The story is mostly bogus, I saw nothing from Love in preseason that shows this to be correct. They are too deep in cap hell to do the later TW, it's a sealed deal now. What they can do, if they are smart is draft a solid 2nd or 3rd round QB for insurance. That means doing your homework right now though. What we have to think about is if they all concur that Love just plain hasn't got what it takes to take the reins after this year. What do they do?
