Rodgers Wants Out

As to having input i feel pretty confident that Manning had input in Indy and Denver, Brees in NOLA and clearly Brady does in Tampa. I am sure I’m missing an example but you get the point. And you have to accept the fact that this is not news around the league. If and yes it’s an big IF , that the Packer organization was not open to this that’s a problem. Murphy wanted this structure for a reason. He wanted control of the organization at all levels. It would not shock me in one minute that Murphy was blunt and “that’s not the way this organization operates”. This organization is hell bent on “The Packer Way”. I get the Gute blame and the Rodgers blame. They are not immune. But shit rolls down hill

Did Manning, Brady, Brees have input into personnel decisions? Seems like last offseason, Rodgers was heavily involved with ML with the offensive scheme / design from what I remember. I'm not saying I don't think Rodgers should be involved, I don't think any of us know how much they do listen to his suggestions. To quote Robert Guillaume from an episode of Sports Night "Just because we don't implement all of your suggestions, doesn't mean we're not listening."
Regardless - Rodgers feels his input should be given more weight.

Which points back to something so many of us have spoken about since the day Ted Thompson was retired. It isn't as much the Packer way as it is the Murphy way. He's a micro-manager.

I would bet a nice amount of cash they did. To what extent who knows. Brady clearly did last year, Loomis and Brees have always been, at least on the surface on the same page moving cash forward to accommodate signings. Elway can see him selling that input. Playbook is different than personal, that involves money and in some cases selling your soul (AB)
 
What people may be missing is that the relationship between ML and Rodgers could be great. But, if Gutey makes arbitrary decisions, it doesn't change the optics or beliefs.

And if that’s the setting for all this, then it’s pretty easy to decide where to point the “blame arrow”.
We’ve said MM is up to his neck in this, but he gets a pass in the media discussion for some reason.

Murphy and the organization control much of the local media narrative. People think that NY and Philadelphia are media cesspools but GB is it’s own fishbowl and in some ways worse. It’s the only game in town and you can debate that it’s the only game that matters state wide. I can only think of one market / state that has that “vibe” and that’s KC.

Dude, you think the media narrative would be more PRO Rodgers if the NY media were involved? The muck raking types have no time for his sort of bullshit. Yes, the FO would not be allowed to repeat their same talking points over and over with no push back, but going nuclear on draft weekend and making it about himself? Sabotaging a SB run for his teammates and org and fans over some petty bull crap? They’d be raking his ass over the coals for this!

Not what my point was. It’s was not Rodgers thing. Sure big market media would be over this and probably crucify the guy. My point was / is Murphy and the organization can control the Wisconsin media more than probably any team in the league. It’s the “states team” and has been for decades
