I don't think Packers will trade him after the draft because you have zero idea wear those picks in the 2022 could land you could trade him for a 1st and it could be a bottom 20's 1st round pick. I think the choice is Rodgers plays for GB or he walks and retires.
 
I think another part that plays into it is Rodgers does not get the say he wants or expects to have in the offense or personal. He's pretty much been told your role is to play and ML is to coach and Gute's is to build the team and that is not going to change. I think he wants a team were he has more of a say in both.

That's front office talk for them thinking they had Rodgers by the short hairs, and they don't. Too many "no comment" statements coming out of other camps that apparently talked to the Packers. That's like taking the 5th in a court of law, and I'm not referring to Jack Daniels.

He's not walking....yet. I dont care where the 2022 pics land, thats a deep class you can get value deep. I think he's gone in June
 
So Packers trade Rodgers get a 1st in 2022 Love struggles mightly in 2021. Do you then cut bait with Love and take a QB high in 2022 draft?
 
The media narrative for the last 7 years or so has been that the Packers haven't done enough to surround Rodgers with talent. Pretty much all of the major national voices have parroted that narrative. Most of the criticism was directed at Ted Thompson for his far-too-conservative approach to building the roster through the draft, but it skyrocketed again last year when we drafted Love after going 13-3 despite it being a deep draft for receivers. Pretty much everyone in Aaron's ear - except the franchise and likely most of his teammates - is telling him the same thing. It's no surprise he's bought into that narrative.

I, for one, feel like there were times where they could have maximized his title chances with an extra FA pickup here and there, and they clearly bungled some of their top draft picks. The defense has been a major problem. But sticking with McCarthy for too long was my biggest issue, though.
 
I'm not one that takes a binary stance where the player or team is automatically right in these situations. Each one is unique.

IMO both sides are fine to use the leverage they have under their leagues CBA. Teams don't have a problem threatening to use the franchise tag if I guy won't sign an extension.

In this situation Rodgers leverage is he's old and has a **** ton of money so he can retire. If he was 28 this would be an empty threat, at his age it's very real. Packers leverage is they have him under contract. So yeah they can call his bluff but it he just walks away what 'win' is that for GB? Getting to say you stuck it to the player seems like an empty price with no real upside.
