Final WST College Football poll of the regular season!

that's the main reason i posted it here. but one thing that had me scratching my head was that they give baylor an 8% chance of making the playoffs. but you said, they are not eligible. are you sure about that? they played in a bowl last year and i find numerous articles discussing their chances for the playoffs.

Baylor is only ineligible in my head, they remain eligible in the eyes of the NCAA and the Big XII

The reason I slapped a five year shutdown on them is because the fallout from the 2016 revelation of the detestable football culture should have been enough to have the NCAA step in and shut it down. Jim Tressel got a show-cause placed on him for the tattoos OSU players were getting, Briles appears to have known that worse was happening at Baylor and he simply got fired, and a whole bunch of people went to bat for him.

The lawsuits are still going (and some are now being settled) which may have something to do with it, but people get up in arms about the NCAA punishing a program for past misdeeds. In this case you had the coaching staff who enabled this, as well as some of the offending players, still in the program. A bunch of people got fired, a few resigned, some of the former players are in jail, but the only thing that happened to the program is the Big XII gave them a 25% reduction in conference earnings. No scholarships were retracted or restricted, no wins vacated, nothing as of yet from the NCAA as far as I know.

EDIT: A heavily pro-Baylor (or anti-NCAA) football article from the Fort Worth Star Telegram from Feb 2019 says the NCAA is investigating and it's ongoing.

doubtful, would still be behind Oklahoma and Utah. Committee would not send 2 B1G teams to playoffs

If Wisconsin was 11-1 with its only loss to Ohio State, they would definitely be ahead of OU right now. OU has one ranked team on it's schedule, who they beat, Wisconsin would have 4, going 3-1 against them, and, for whatever little it's worth, the potential MAC champion.

They'd probably be 6th, behind Utah.
1. OSU/LSU 2. LSU/OSU 3. Clemson 4. UGA 5. Utah 6. Wisconsin 7. OU

In that scenario:

If LSU loses would they fall out and Utah get in at 4? If LSU and OSU both lose, do Utah and Wisconsin both move in? Or would the Badgers get left at 5? How would you shake out six 12-1 teams, 4 of whom are conference champs with the other 2 undefeated in the regular season, for three spots?

I think the Illinois loss drops them to far

logic says yes but don’t think the committee would look at it that way. A close loss to UW in the championship game they are not dropping OSU from 1 to 5 so Buckeyes are still in. Clemson is a lock to they are in. If UGA / LSU is close same If UGA wins both are in. LSU wins that opens up 4th spot. I get the 1 loss was to #1 but they got boat raced. I just think committee looks at it as a “bad” loss

**disregard the Illinois post **
