Post Game Packers Defeat Vikings 21-16

Just think though we could have had TJ Watt or Cook on this team instead of King.

That might have been the most frustrating wire-to-wire victory I've ever seen. Graham being completely invisible yet again is only going to hold back this offense going forward. But I'll take 2-0 and a commanding, early division lead any day.

don't you think many would be pissed with cook. I mean hes missed about as much time as king, hasn't busted 1000 season (yet) and 7 career rushing tds. trust me some fans would be calling him another busted TT pick haha
Cook I think finally 100% after knee injury they say takes two years after injury to be like you were

I thought the scripted plays on offense obviously worked really well yesterday. Once the first few drives passed though, it was a trudge on offense. Even when our offense was an elite one, Rodgers has always kind of had issues against Zimmer's defense, so I wasn't too surprised.

The one encouraging thing was that we were able to run the ball extremely effectively against a real good front seven. I think if we actually stuck to the run more, similar to the Vikings gameplans the first two weeks, the offense would've been in a much better zone. There were a few drives where we went completely away from the run, and went 3 and out on a couple of occasions. And, like LaFleur said in the postgame press conference, I think a big part of the offensive struggles after the first 16 minutes were that we were being put in 3rd & 10 plus as opposed to 3rd & 3 or 3rd & 4 situations.

I do think we need to get a legit second option at WR too -- trades are becoming more prevalent at the deadline and there should be quite a few teams that will be selling pieces. Kicking MVS/Allison/Kumerow a spot down the depth chart would make our WR's look quite a bit better. There aren't going to be many nickel/dimebacks that will be able to keep up with MVS on go routes. Get a legit secondary WR target, and I think this offense will be pretty deadly in the second half.

I saw some interesting things when I went back and watched the tape tonight.

1) Taylor and Turner actually played very well, IMO. Good run blocking and overall solid pass blocking.
2) Graham got killed on two plays against Hunter and Griffin. One was a sack and another should have been. If they keep having him block the ends or OLB's then somebody is really stupid.
3) AR did miss a few timing passes to Adams but 90% of the time the routes were over 10 yards or all the WR's were covered. At least from what I saw. We need a #2 WR and a slot guy that has quickness, speed and runs good routes.
4) Aaron Jones needs to read his blockers and holes better. Two times he had huge openings backside and he went straight ahead or to the front side. Hopefully that will get better as the season goes on.
5) Danny Vitale had a horrible game. He did not block anybody. He may be athletic but that might be all he is. He was playing patty cake out there.
6) After the first 3 TD's, we really shot ourselves in the foot. Yes, the Vikings D played well but we had a fumble inside the Vikings 30, a bad snap (fumble) in Vikings territory, could not get two 3rd and 1's, had two huge drops, and AR under threw Aaron Jones for a huge gain.
7) We need to use Jones and Williams out of the backfield more. We gained great yardage off the swing passes.
8) Lowery had a monster game. That guy is coming into his own. I am excited to see if he can keep it up!
9) This D-line is really good, IMO. Pressure all day on cousins and pushed the pocket consistently. We need a great ILB to make splash plays and can stuff the run. Too many times Martinez was caught watching and not anticipating fast enough. If we find a good ILB, this D could be really good.

I think I'd agree on almost all of what you said except on Martinez. His job, on the majority of plays, is to act as the second line of defense, which means he's called on to make stops from tackle to tackle. He can't throw himself into plays because that means that we end up with plays like the 75 yard TD run. It's why he ends up leading the team in tackles nearly every week.

I'm not saying he didn't miss on some assignments, but I do believe his job is to watch the play develop, and react only within specific parameters, to insure plays don't go for long yardage on the run. It may look to an observer that he's not doing his job, because of it.

You gotta let that one go. King is for real, hopefully he can stay healthy.

I find it a bit odd that people are incredibly critical of King, but want to crown Cook as a great RB. If Cook was our RB you would be complaining that he's only played in half of the games in his career. He gets hurt EVERY year.

If you want to play the woulda shoulda card in that draft......We took Josh Jones when we could have had Kamara.
