Packers To Hire Matt LaFleur As HC

Looking good. Now we just need a pass game coordinator, a run game coordinator, a RPO coordinator, a coordinating game coordinator who sits under the OC but reports directly to the HC, and an assistant HC who is a position coach on the D side but reports directly to the HC instead of the DC. Look forward to seeing who fills these vital roles.

Green Bay Packers
Coaching Staff To Date:

Head Coach - Matt LaFleur
OC -Nathaniel Hackett
DC - Mike Pettine
OL Coach - Adam Stenavich
RB Coach - Ben Sirmans
ILB Coach - Kirk Olivadotti
OLB Coach- Mike Smith
DB Coach- Jason Simmons
DL Coach- Jerry Montgomery
QB Coach - Luke Getsy
TE Coach - Justin Outten
WR Coach - ???????
ST Coach - ???????

All announced but these last two.

I'm glad to see he's doing a real search for those two positions instead of giving a buddy a job. That gets HCs in trouble more often than not. The string of ST coaches we had were straight out of McC's buddy book.

We need a WR coach who emphasizes keeping your body between the defenders and the ball.

Not a ton out there on Whitted, but a couple good articles. He's a former WR who now teaches WR to play WR, which is a departure from MM's view that WR position coach is a rung in the ladder for anyone wishing to be an OC.

Great thought there R.. some of his position hires never really made sense. But through that lens they do. He was just finding a place to stash some of these guys..

It wasn't always that way. Remember MM made a great initial hire with Jimmie Robinson as WR coach. It's no coincidence that the overall level of WR play was at its peak under Robinson, until he left in 2010. At that point, once established as a SB winning HC, I think MM wanted to build his tree, so to speak, and really turned inward with hiring and replacements. I think that's when the stagnation began in the coaching ranks.

So ST coach left. My guess if Rizzi does not take job Welker gets it.
