Politics and Football don't mix

One other point. Mark, thanks for having the kahunas to put this ONE topic up for open debate. It is the burning topic. Let's hope it's the last one we have to consider for quite some time.
Almost everyone has been respectful and had their say without being judgmental. Discourse is a fading art in the present generation. Good job!

Your welcome.... I think everyone here is adult enough to talk it out. We actually don't always agree but really that's the beauty of a forum like this... it's fun and interesting to see other viewpoints on the matter and agree to disagree.Thank you Dubz41 for stopping in all the time and being part of the family. It's appreciated

It's blatant racism, and the people responsible for it, cloaking themselves in the flag, trying to convince everyone that racism is good,
This is where I disagree. A very small minority of people are truly, blatantly racist and think racism is good. I think the issue is race based bias. I don't think the police are racist when they pull over more blacks than whites. The truth of the matter is more crimes are committed by blacks. 60% of the murders are committed by a race that makes up 13% of the population. This bias isn't right or just and that is what the protests are about. No one is promoting racism. The people who are complaining probably have no clue what it's like to be pulled over because you have dark skin. They don't believe the bias is real. The media doesn't help in the matter because they only report the sensational stuff like the Ferguson case or the Smith case that just completed the trial with the cop getting acquitted. If they really sought to educate the people on what the bias looks like everyone would start to understand. The article I posted earlier is a prime example of the bias and while it was happening I don't think it was intentional or racist. It was due to patrolling higher crime areas and profiling. Hell Black officers are more likely to pull over blacks. Are they racist? If the country would focus on the issue there could be real solutions. The problem is it's easier to do nothing and protest the big cases than it is to study it and come up with solutions. This issue can't be solved by whites alone or blacks alone or the government alone or anyone else alone. This needs to be a concerted group effort and being divisive like the media, Trump, Antifa, Neo-Nazis, BLM and whoever is only making things worse.

i agree, but there are obstacles. for example, a very good friend of mine who is an extremely liberal white female who works in human resources in sacramento recently tried to show support for this issue in a post on facebook. she was destroyed by people of color who responded to her post saying that as a privileged white person she couldn't possibly understand what they go through and therefore she just stay out of it. i felt so bad for her because i know her well and i know that her feelings were genuine and she was trying to be supportive. and as a white person, i read her words and thought she was being very supportive. the racism goes both ways in this issue. and that's a big part of the divisiveness.

even just stating statistics like you did in your post can cause an angry backlash from people who do not want facts like that to enter the argument.

That is pretty much my point. This isn't just a white issue. The solution has to come from all sides. Contrary to popular belief, there are racist black people too. So these protests against the perceived injustices only make it worse. They only serve to foment hate when in reality 99% of the country want the same thing. Equality for all.
Generalization here but I was guilty of it when I didn't understand the issues. White people blame black people for their struggles because they don't try to become educated and better themselves. Black people blame white people for not offering them the same education and opportunity. The truth is somewhere in the middle. Poverty is the main cause of poor education. Race doesn't matter, kids who struggle to get enough to eat are not going to do well in school. Kids that don't do well in school are going to struggle to make a living, kids that struggle to make a living are going to remain in poverty. I don't know how to end the cycle but poverty is a bigger issue than race in this country.

The only thing I disagree with in your entire post is the 98%. I believe about 30% of all Americans are racist. That's split pretty much equally in numbers between whites and blacks.

Too many families where the kids don't have a dad at home and mom isn't married. It makes things very tough.

Rodgers asking fans at game to join players in sign of unity and link arms together. If I were at the game I do what I normally do take my hat off and put my hand over my heart.
