How the hell does Capers still have a job?

So, it looks like an almost certainty that the Packers will retain the, "services" of Dom Capers for next season. Am I the only one that's absolutely livid by this news? Granted, I'm not surprised, but you'd think with the "defensive" showing in the NFCC that they'd enough is enough injuries and all.

The packers defense was so bad on Sunday that even ESPN was making fun of it:

This isn't too far off the mark. The Falcons had 15 plays go for 10 yards or more, and that was just for the first half. They gave up an NFL playoff record for highest opponent 3rd down conversion(76.9 percent)

I know there were a lot of injuries, but this isn't anything new. In 2011, the Packers fielded the all time worst defense(at the time) that the NFL has ever seen in opposing yardage. It seems they can play well against the mediocre and the lousy offenses, but the second they face a good QB or offense they are absolutely humiliated.

Why does Capers still have a job as a D-coordinator in the NFL? Seriously, it's completely head-scratching. On top of that, his DB coach(I think we know what the DB stands for here) has players who've been regressing and also has 4 DUI's off the field. How is he not held accountable?

I guess the Packers are showing us once again, that they are OK, with just being very good, instead of great. Disgraceful. I don't know if I've ever been more upset with a coaching decision/indecision as I am with this one.

Well you answered your own question in the last paragraph... Because the goal is a decent season not a championship. If they happen to go all the way, great, bonus.. But the goal is only ever really the division, and that's what TT/MM teams are built for. They looked better than they were this year because Arod played out of his mind for the home stretch. But really for those of us who want to see another SB champ for our investment it's frustrating.

Regardless of record though, MM should be demanding better coaching and technique work from his defensive staff. Then again I'm not sure MM knows what he's looking at when he looks at the DEF.. BUt the fact the defense gives up big points in the postseason when talent is more even and up a notch should be smacking him in the face that they need to find someone else.

"This is no time for drama," McCarthy said. "Dom Capers is an outstanding football coach. That doesn't change. He had a tough challenge in front of him this year, and once again that coaching staff dealt with a lot. I think clearly if you look at the way the team was motivated, the way they were prepared, the things we were able to do, the adjustments we made, it's all part of it. So, a lot of good things came out of that."

36.3 ppg allowed in Rodgers playoff losses and 44+ 3 times. If it's broke...don't fix it. cra)

Unreal. Longest tenured DC in the league, and in that time we haven't had a top-10 ranked defense in points allowed since 2010. Shocked(

Did anybody really expect the Packers to move on from TT, McCarthy, or Capers? Really??? This is the biggest status quo group in years! Making it to the NFCC just set the return of all in stone. Dorsey built a great defense in KC in two years. We haven't even had a decent defense since the Super Bowl SEVEN years ago! How long does it take Ted to build a defense??? sh))

Rappaport says he hears Ted will spend in FA this off-season. SURE he will! Good Ol' Rumor Rappaport. Nothing to see here folks. Business as usual. bh(

MM just likes to feel superior in practice as his offense runs up and down the field on that defense. I'm not surprised by Capers being back but I am disappointed. It's more of the status quo. I'm starting get to get used to it and that is disappointing in and of itself

I suppose McCoach is giving Dom a pass because of all the injuries this year. IMO the guys who should get pink slips are the strength and conditioning people! It is ridiculous that every year we have more injuries than most teams in the league. It can't all be just dumb luck...

Forgot about the S and C staff. How those guys also still have a job is crazy to me. You're right, the Packers seemingly have more injuries than every other team, yet these guys are still retained. It's like they don't care about improving since they made the playoffs. I've been saying it for years...really rubs me the wrong way. This isn't the Milwaukee Bucks. The Packers are a premier team in the NFL. They should never have that mentality. They are better than that.
