Not the slightest bit impressed with this guys speed or play on tape........was not worth a trade up as I highly doubt anyone would have taken him and he would be there tomorrow. He looks bad on film...hope he does a lot better in GB. I see a practice squad candidate.

The tape is against Alabama. But one thing that stood out is that Burks plays very disciplined and did not get sucked out of position. He stayed in his lane. He actually saved a few big gains in that film because of his discipline. And forced some plays in a diff direction cause he stayed in his lane as well. So I can see the football smarts.

The pick is growing on me. Might be their best pick so far in terms of pick vs value vs potential

Gutekunst on Burks: He's was the No. 1 tester among the ILBs on our board. He's not a small man. He's athletic. His best football is ahead of him.

Don't know much about Burks. Clearly has some sideline to sideline speed. Surprised they felt the need to move up for him but maybe they felt he would be gone and were being true to their board. Not much to go by from the videos though the second video shows some coverage ability.

Seems like most sites had him in Rd 3-4 range so value seems about right. Sure seems like he was selected essentially to play that hybrid role they had envisioned Jones to play. A sub package type guy - which is OK.

Thanks for the extra perspective everybody. I just wasn’t impressed with his tape. And I badly wanted him to be fantastic! Over ran a few plays. Almost looked like what we’ve had on defense for years. Hope Pettine’s coaching can help him take it to the next level. At least we can have more confidence in the defensive staff now!

Maybe they plan on Jones being the SS now? Not sure what their plans are. I think Pettine has had a huge influence on this draft.

In listening to his interview he definitely is intelligent. Also one thing that probably helps is that he said he played in a bade 3-4 but also they used a lot of 4-3 sub packages.. I'm sure that caught Packers attention.
