Passes Defended
1 (5x) MR vs. Penn State, Dec. 3, 2016

Is this guy edge or he going to play inside?

He's 6'6" with some good pass rush skills. I imagine that he'll be outside.

Don't get mad when I say this, but he could be the guy who ends up replacing Matthews at the edge. He's about the same speed, and has some very good instincts in reading defenses. His outside edge rush can be powerful.

I know... I know... he's never shown "that much" in college, but a lot of that has to do with his controlled play.

This kid may well be one of the ten most underrated players in this year's draft. You can laugh about it, and say I'm wrong, but you may well be surprised at how it plays out, on the field.

Look for him to become a 2nd year package that can amaze you.

Hope you're right TW. There were a few who thought he might be better than Watt. We'll see. Vince has the name, the fire and determination. We'll see if he is one of those guys who becomes the better pro than college player. Fills a need and brings an attitude that's been missing on our defense.

Personally preferred Biegel to Watt, Biegel changed positions last year, took Shoeberts spot, basically more responsible for pass coverage, improved that part of his game. Biegel never played near 100% all season after returning from his foot injury.

i gotta laugh at the article mcginn published with quotes from nfl scouts.

AFC scout: “Didn’t like him at all. As long as Biegel is free he’s good. Once people put their hands on him he stopped. Seventh round. He’s not that physical against the run. High pad level. Catches. He gets pushed. He gives ground. He’s best as a two-point rusher because he has good take-off. He’s not explosive. He’s tight in his drops. Straight-line guy. Questioned his space play. Left foot fracture and surgery last year. I don’t see where he can improve, and he can’t play in space.”

NFC scout: “I actually like him better than Watt. He plays hard. He’s technique-sound. He’s got a little edge rush to him. Just a solid overall player. I could see him getting in the second round.”

okay, so he's somewhere in between second round and seventh round quality. got it.

With Biegel I think the team expects him to be more advanced and to be able to contribute more right away. By the time TC starts he is going to be 24 years old.

Can't remember which one, but one of the talking heads said that he can play outside or inside, and may eventually move inside. That makes this pick more interesting. IMO Clay should have moved permanently inside (with a few outside snaps or stunts) 3 years ago, whether he wanted to or not. Kind of nice to have a guy that could potentially move around. If he can take some snaps inside with Clay and Perry on the outside, it opens up some nice possibilities

Is this guy edge or he going to play inside?

From nfl.com
BOTTOM LINE Effort-based worker bee with edge-setting hands and attitude, but a lack of power that could lead to inconsistency in play. Biegel's football character is off-the-charts and he can be counted on to put the effort into improving in areas that need work. He lacks individual rush talent but could be a good fit for teams utilizing exotic rush packages. Average NFL ceiling but has the demeanor and traits of a potential special teams demon.

Sounds a lot more like a candidate to move inside to me.. The thing i keep reading is lack of power and not as strong... Which is not something you want in your outside rusher. he sounds alot like a 4th round AJ Hawk.. Like most 4th rounders he could definitely have an impact if he can improve some things. But could also just as easily flame out...
