David Bakhtiari signs 4 year deal with Packers

1 Trent Williams $13,600,000
2 Terron Armstead $13,000,000
3 Tyron Smith $12,200,000
4 Cordy Glenn $12,000,000
5 David Bakhtiari $12,000,000
6 Eric Fisher $12,000,000
7 Joe Thomas $11,500,000
8 Anthony Castonzo $10,953,000
9 Russell Okung $10,600,000
10 Jason Peters $10,325,000
11 Nate Solder $10,031,000
12 Branden Albert $9,400,000
13 Andrew Whitworth $9,000,000
14 Kelvin Beachum $9,000,000
15 Duane Brown $8,900,000

Seems to me that his contract is about right. Bakhtiari is not a good run blocker, but he's 24 years old, has 3 years of experience at the 2nd most important position in football, and is a very good pass blocker for a team that relies on giving their QB time.
He's probably in the 5-10 range of top LTs, but if he continues to develop should be in the top 5 for most of the duration of the contract. FCC(

He slots in at 5th right now, by the time the contract is up he'll be like the 15th best paid LT....GB is overpaying on the front end, but if he maintains or even improves his level of play, he'll be a bargain by probably the halfway point.

Perfectly said. I am happy with this move, and the future of this line looks pretty bright right now.

Details of David Bakhatiari's four-year contract extension are in. It includes $48 million in new money in addition to the $1,676,850 he was scheduled to make this season. Highlights include a $15 million signing bonus plus a $1 million roster bonus paid on Sept. 12. That's the only guaranteed money. Also includes roster bonuses of $1.196 million in 2017 (paid on fifth day of league year), $6 million in 2018 (fifth day of LY), $1.5 million in 2019 (fifth day of LY). He will count $4,019,700 against this year's salary cap, meaning the Packers still have more than $12 million in available space.

Though I don't know if those numbers are right. If he got a $15 million SB that means it's $3 million a year spread over 5 years. Roster bonus of $1 million this year so that's $4 million against the cap right there. He can't have a base salary of less then 20 grand so he has to be more then a $4 million cap number.

The crime on that list is Joe Thomas. He should eclipse everyone on the list when he gets a new contract.

IMO, the NFL is moving in direction of the NBA, stars get paid and everyone else on the cheap.

Don't know if this is a good trend for the brand. As we have discussed in Shout, overall product on the field is down and ratings were down for week one. The direction of star and a few vets at key positions and young cheap guys not ready at other positions is damaging the game.

Time will tell I guess..

The crime on that list is Joe Thomas who will be in for a big pay day as probably the top Tackle in the league.

Ok Demovsky says the 1 million roster bonus was a OATSB which can be pro-rated also.

Probably not when he's a FA he will be 34 years old. He might retire then if not I can't see someone making a 34 year old the top paid tackle.
