Was talking in shoutbox, so thought I'd post my reasoning here.

Rodgers is due $41.62M (non-guaranteed) in his final two years. No dead money.
Tear up the last 2 yrs of the contract.
Convert those 2 years of salary to a $42M signing bonus.
Structure the contract along these lines.............9key: s/b=signing bonus; G=guaranteed; NG=non-guaranteed)
2018: s/b - $6M; G-$8M; NG-$0 Total cap hit $14M
2019: s/b - $6M; G-$14M; NG-$6M Total cap hit $26M
2020: s/b - $6M; G-$16M; NG-$6M Total cap hit $28M
2021: s/b - $6M; G-$20M; NG-$6M Total cap hit $32M
2022: s/b - $6M; G-$0; NG-$28M Total cap hit $34M
2023: s/b - $6M; G-$0; NG-$30M Total cap hit $36M
2024: s/b - $6M; G-$0; NG-$34M Total cap hit $40M

totals:
Total Guarantees - $100M ($42M s/b; $58M base/roster/workout)
Total Non-Guarantees - $110M
Total Contract - 7 yrs/$210M
Yearly average - $30M/year

i'm not sure if that's going to be enough based on the numbers being thrown around for cousins.

Isn't there a lesser limit on the number of years over which the signing bonus can be prorated?

I think that contract could work knowing what Cousins is getting.

Think you would have to boost the numbers on this. Matt Ryan will get 94 million in the first 3 years of his deal. This deal here comes to $80 million in first 3 years so I would think that Rodgers will be closer to 100 over the first 3.

I could see something like this 5 year deal 160 million dollars

100-110 fully guaranteed with other 50-60 million guaranteed for injury.

First 3 years pays 100 million dollars

$50 million signing bonus

First 3 years all base and roster bonus are fully guaranteed

Year 1: SB: $10 base salary $10 Total Cap: $20
Year 2: SB: $10 Roster Bonus $5 Base Salary: $13 Total Cap: $28
Year 3: SB: $10 Roster Bonus $5 Base Salary: $17 Total Cap: $32
Year 4: SB: $10 Roster Bonus $5 Base Salary: $20 Total Cap: $35
Year 5: SB: $10 Roster Bonus $5 Base Salary: $30 Total Cap: $45

Year 5 would be my dummy money year were either at age 39 you will release him or redo the contract if he will play another couple years.

I don't know how you all treat expensive things, but if I have to guarantee Aaron Rodgers $100m over three years, that's three years Aaron Rodgers is spending in bubble wrap in the garage.
