Packers Hire New DC

On the surface, it looks like a solid hire. He may not be a household name, but he does have a good track record. From what people are saying, he knows what it takes to scheme against specifics on opponents. That, in itself, is a step up, from where we were.

Now we have a new adventure to look forward to with our defense when they start the season. Even more reason to be optimistic. Now, let's see what they do to give him more tools to work some magic.

Now lets see in next couple weeks what kind of staff he puts together. Not sure many if any current assistants will keep their jobs with the scheme changing. I wonder if he will look to bring many of his guys at BC with him?

Most of the staff will stay, maybe bring in 1 or 2 ...maybe.

kind of surprised that most of staff will stay. Usually does not a new DC want to bring in guys he knows and trust to run his defense?

Huh. Especially with how bad certain aspects were I would think they would get rid of a bunch. Unless they think most of the blame rested on Barry?

My "concern" is that he had worked his way up in college to a head coach. His jump to the NFL could mean he's building his resume for an NFL head coaching job. Which means, he'll need to have success as a def coordinator first - which means the Packers defense will be improved, which will be a very good thing!

Read that he was not happy having to deal with NIL in college so that's why he wanted to return to NFL. Though in NFL you won't have much different with NFL players wanting to get their stats to get paid also.

I imagine all the recruiting gets old too, even if you’re good at it

So now to the nitty gritty dirt, of X and O not the band…

Is there anyone in def roster that doesn’t fit with what the new DC wants to do? How does this change the approach to the draft in terms of what players will fit best?
