Jackson was one of last players to committ to Bama under Nick Saban. Jackson committed in Dec. 2023 and Saban resigned in January.

Maybe McShay over valued him? I wonder what these scoring departments think of all these network draft analysts?
Happens every year, many times, especially when they do their rankings almost a year ahead of time. Jackson started every game in 2024 and was productive. Draft guys, and likely also pro scouts, had their eyes on him - athletic, productive, premium position, top-flite program - as likely as anyone to be picked early.

Then 2025 rolls around and he loses his starting spot mid-season, though it's interesting that he was starting again at the end of the season when it counted. He plays less and is less productive and both the draftniks and pro teams start pushing him down their boards.

(At least one podcaster is of the opinion that Alabama was giving young guys starts and snaps to help retain them and keep them out of the portal, at Jackson's expense. Not so sure that's true, but in todays college environment I couldn't rule it out completely.)
