Pre-Draft Analysis
Williams is a versatile playmaker with an impressive combination of size, strength and speed. This past season, he became the first TCU player with a receiving, rushing and passing touchdown since 2017. Williams' 10-yard split was outstanding at the combine (1.52 seconds), and that burst jumps out on tape. He can also make defenders miss with the ball in his hands, as his power and balance make him tough to tackle. Williams easily shakes out defenders at the top of his routes and gets open quickly against press coverage. His ability to move around the formation makes it easier to create favorable matchups for him. His hands are inconsistent, but he does pull off highly difficult catches. Plus, his hands are big, his arms are long, and he extends to pluck the ball out of the air. -- Steve Muench

So GB's WR room for 2025

Doubs, Wicks, Reed, Golden, Williams, Hardman

(IR Watson)

Heath and Melton likely cut or traded at end of TC

I still think Wicks and Doubs should be worried especially with other guys they will likely bring in from late rounds and UDFA.. GB is clearly not happy with the WR group.

This was a solid pick by Gb.

Funny thing is, he looks faster in game than Golden, who ran a 4.29. Game speed in this kid looks amazing in highlight film. This offense could be electric this year.

Ahem...now about that defense...sh))FP(
Especially with how ML was able to coordinate the run game last year, I think he's an exciting add to a group with Josh Jacobs and Marshawn Loyd, and I can easily see him taking those gadget plays off of Reed's plate since Reed kept getting banged up running that stuff. Let Reed focus on playing WR.

So is he more a less a gadget player? Questionable hands and questionable route running but you can move him all over inside, outside and at RB.

Enjoyed a second-straight career-best season with 60 receptions, 611 yards and six touchdowns

Scouting Report:

  • Super athletic - Made Bruce Feldman's 2023 Freak's List at #56. He Wrote: "Williams, though, jumps well too, having hit 10-6 on the broad jump and posted a 40-inch vertical. In 2022, Williams made 29 receptions for 392 yards and four touchdowns. The former high school quarterback has incredible arm strength. He can throw it farther than all the TCU QBs. “He threw it about 20 yards further — it was like every bit of 80 yards,”"
  • Shows surprising wiggle for a big man, demonstrating the spatial awareness and lateral quickness to execute crisp jump cuts in the open field
  • Brings defensive coordinator nightmares with his triple-threat ability - can house it as a runner, receiver, or surprise teams with his cannon arm
  • Accelerates like a sports car off the line, eating up cushion against off coverage and forcing corners to respect his vertical threat
  • Uses an advanced diamond release package to defeat press coverage, showing active hands and clever footwork to maintain leverage
  • Displays veteran savvy on deep routes with subtle head fakes and shoulder leans that create separation at the stem
  • Brings running back vision and instincts to the screen game, setting up blocks and finding cutback lanes like a natural ball carrier
  • Possesses freakish play strength that shows up in contact situations - runs through arm tackles and maintains balance through traffic
