Remember though high the average per year more guaranteed money you pay out If you have a 5 year 40 million deal vs 5 year 25 million deal still will have more guarnateed money in they 40 million deal.

Teams seem to be committed to the theory that almost all RBs have a short playing span. At the most, about 6 years, and if they've been overworked in HS and college, it could be less. That's what we've seen with so many over the last 20 years that it's baffling. I'm not certain what's happened to these guys, but the old "work horse" RB is totally a thing of the past.

I believe you're right. There may have been a few before him, but in his case, it was glaringly obvious how his legs were gone.
