UW athletic director Chris McIntosh announced Friday that men's hockey coach Tony Granato received a contract extension, but a closed Board of Regents meeting Tuesday suggests there are additional contract changes the university has not disclosed.

I guess this supports what I suggested, that they weren't going to guarantee the entire year's pay if he gets fired before then. A non-guaranteed year is like a vote of confidence, not a real commitment.

So basically he has on offset in his agreement. Most likely they would reduce the buyout which is what Nebraska and Michigan did.
