One Lombardi-era legend and two members of the 1996 squad landed on the NFL's list of greatest Super Bowl players.

Today, in honor of the 50th Super Bowl, the NFL has compiled a list of players who had the greatest individual performances in Super Bowl history. This group is being called the "Super Bowl 50 Golden Team" and consists of the best of the best in the league's 49 years of hosting Super Bowls.

As one might expect from a team that has won four Lombardi Trophies, the Green Bay Packers are well-represented on the Golden Team. Their three players rank fourth among all franchises behind the Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and Dallas Cowboys. Green Bay landed one player on offense, one on defense, and one on special teams.

Forrest Gregg, the right tackle for Vince Lombardi's Packers of the 1960s, is on the team as an offensive tackle, joining the Raiders' Art Shell. Gregg started in Super Bowls I and II following the 1966 and 1967 seasons, and was named a First-Team All-Pro in both of those years.

Defensive end Reggie White represents the 1996 Packers squad that won Super Bowl XXXI. In that game, he sacked New England Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe three times, including back-to-back plays to essentially seal the game late in the third quarter. Those three sacks are tied for the second-highest total in a single Super Bowl. White was also a member of the 1997 team that lost in Super Bowl XXXII.

The final Packer is return man Desmond Howard, who was named MVP of Super Bowl XXXI. Howard's 99-yard kickoff return touchdown took away the Patriots' momentum in the second half, and his 244 all-purpose yards tied a Super Bowl record for a single game (which was later broken by the Ravens' Jacoby Jones in Super Bowl XLVII).
