It has been an interesting ride for Sam Dekker at the NBA level. For all the ups and downs, he’ll likely never forget his first career start as a professional though.

That’s because Dekker was absolutely on fire from deep and couldn’t be stopped at the rim either. All that led to was a career-high 30 points, blowing his previous career best night of 19 points out of the water. His night was a big catalyst for the Houston Rockets blowout win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

Dekker is sure to see more action and more starts if he continues to play anywhere near the level he did on Saturday night. From spacing himself well to being able to connect from deep over and over again, Dekker showed why he could be a matchup nightmare at any level.

It will be interesting to see if he continues to start for the Rockets going forward. He sure made it hard to justify not starting him in the coming weeks though.

Dekker is capable of shooting the ball as well as anyone in the NBA. He's quick, for his size, and is vertical in his shooting. He doesn't shoot a flat shot. The only thing he lacked, coming out of UW was the muscle to play physically against some of the bigger guys he'd face in the NBA. He seems to have gotten that now

Above all, Sam is a "quick study," who learns from his mistakes, and rarely repeats them. He's going to be a solid pro, and in the right system, he could easily average 15 points a game, and a healthy amount of rebounds and assists.
