Honestly read the whole thing 3 times and have no idea what the hell he actually said in terms of what he's doing or thinking sh)) .... said a lot of nothing.
My take, this part stood out
“This business is about people,” Rodgers said, “and just thinking about who’s going to be in that room, who would be in that room if I were to come back, there’s some sadness definitely around that.”

Very telling comment on where his trust and comfort level is /was. Maybe more telling, retirement is clearly an option on the table.

Not sure of the details in his restructured contract, but if he retires, does he owe GB any money?

I believe the pro rated SB which is about $20m assuming the team goes after it. Not sure how the CBA reads on this

Add to that :

When a player is released (or retires), the team is relieved of having the pay the player's base salary (P5) and any Roster Bonus that may become due after that, but still will need to account for any Signing or Option Bonus prorations that haven't yet counted against the Salary Cap.

Hope this helps....

When a player retires, the team has the option to track the return of a portion of the signing bonus equal to the unplayed portions of the contract, and that money will no longer count towards the salary cap

So Rodgers admits Packers kissed his butt enough that he felt happy.

I don't know if GB would do that look at the mess and hard feelings it cost between Calvin Johnson and the Lions.
