Rodgers Wants Out

According to NFL insider Benjamin Allbright, there is word around the NFL that the Packers are trying to offer Rodgers a “monster deal” that would keep their quarterback in town for multiple seasons.

Green Bay should be willing to offer Rodgers a multi-year extension worth $45-plus million per season. In terms of a total contract value, that would look like a two-year contract worth approximately $90 million. If he is willing to play even longer, a three-year extension totaling $120 million is plausible.

Somebody email Ty Dunne, find out what's going on.

Maybe Aaron did more than just media bomb the franchise last season with his sycophant sports reporters. Maybe he got some sort of leverage behind the scenes. Then again the simple explanation is they can't get Love ready, for whatever reason.

Well the resurrected contract gave him all the leverage that’s not a secret

One theory out there I’ve heard I the “we want Aaron back” narrative is that the organization is afraid he walks and they get nada in compensation. The organization wants to give the narrative that is still capable of winning, why would you not want to compete to win.

Personally I believe there have been conversations between the organization and Dunn and it’s not positive stuff

To echo what Mark said earlier, don’t overthink it. Boldness is not the default for most football ops people, and that includes Murphy and Gute and Ball (and ps that’s not necessarily a knock, or at least that’s a different conversation, just telling it like it is). It’s much safer to ride with the guy you know who will keep the team winning to one degree or another than to swing big for the fences and a restart. And its especially safer if you’re internally admitting you blew the eval on the replacement QB.

He could “walk” in two ways.
1) He retires
2) He vetoes trade offers, if it’s not where he wants to go, and forces them to release him because they can’t keep his contract on the books without gutting the team. And then he shops himself to the team(s) he preferred.

Either way, Gute/MM are left holding their ****** in their hands.

I don’t think they release him under any circumstances. They need to keep his “rights”. Outright release is outright stupidity

The only problem with that is that everyone knows this is not a deep roster and has questionable talent, and GB has been awful at home in the playoffs. Great for pumping the stats reg season. But not so much for playoffs.
