Rodgers Wants Out

It's bad enough to sign him based on the cap hell were in but it's even worse that we willing to sign him for 45M. AR should be willing to at least sign for a discount at 20 to 25M. If he really wants to win a SB, then he would do this for the team. JMO.
Yeah this is a good point. It’s one thing to keep him and forego the chance to rebuild the team with picks, it’s another to do the above but also pay a premium market salary for him.

You know, there’s a part of me that wants to believe that these “rumors” of a massive contract extension are nothing more than an effort to demonstrate to the fan base and media a desire by GB to try and keep and placate the QB, when they know there is no way to realistically make it happen without destroying this franchise for the better part of a decade.

But at the same time there’s another part of me that believes that the FO regime is intimidated and afraid of the narcissist in residence and will cave to whatever demands and marching orders he gives them.

I’m hoping the first part wins out over the second.

I think some of you are overthinking it. Murphy and Gute want to cement their legacy with another SB win and quite frankly they know that they can't sniff it without AR. ML of course is kind of caught betwixt and between this whole deal... but he knows Rodgers keeps his win total high enough to keep working.

The bottom line here is they are willing to mortgage tomorrow to win today.... that approach hasn't worked in 3 seasons but come hell or high water these dopes want to keep trying.

If they do keep AR, I can't help but feel it says something about Jordan Love. Not just what we've seen, but what they see every day. I know Gute and ML were head over heels when they drafted him but it wouldn't be the first time a team had massively blown the evaluation on a QB.

Still, I will reiterate my stance that this is part of the dance and I think they trade Rodgers.

Rodgers has said he does not want to be around with a rebuild. They sign Rodgers to a massive contract Rodgers knows that there are going to be several players they can not keep likley starting with his buddy Adams. Does Rodgers want to stay knowing that at best this might be a playoff team right now in a weak North Division but won't contend for a Super Bowl? If Rodgers does stay that means his line of not wanting to stay for a rebuild is horse crap and all he ever wanted was to be paid a lot of money and have more say in how things are run in the front office. If this happens it will be 100% of Murphy as he does not want to be the team president that traded away both Favre and Rodgers. He rather deep six the future of the team then to have his legacy be that guy.

If this is part if that trade Arod dance they are failing miserably. The "we want Arod back" to the point of looking like they're desperate to keep thier trophy wife doesn't up the trade market it lowers it. They look like idiots right now.

It's funny because I know Broncos fans and some fans of other teams and none of this stuff registers with them at all. They couldn't care less. Everyone is convinced he's going to the Broncos.

Don't count out this being a dastardly plan by Arod to have GB fawn all over him fans to freak out, and then he comes through at the last minute with a team friendly deal because he's such a good guy so he can be a martyr.
