Richard Sherman

Rumor has it now that Seattle is unwillingly to trade Sherman to anyone in the NFC. Packers find themselves an elite shut down corner and hit on a draft pick or 2 and you can probably pencil them in to represent the NFC in the ship. Barring injuries or anything catastrophic obviously... makes sense from Seattles side, they likely don't want to make a move that clearly could come back to bite them in the ass.

I'd rather cough up a player Seattle values and a future pick depending on who the player is. Cobb and a future 3rd or even 2nd? Yeah, see ya later Randy.

Sherman plays his best as a PURE press man cover corner when his team get's pressure on the QB consistently... GB mix zone and meh pass rush won't help him and he will get frustrated and play like poo. Can't put it any straighter then that.

Green Bay's d-line was ranked 8th in 2016 with an average sack rate of 7.1% They were 6th with 40 total sacks in 2016. I don't think Sherman is a fit but it is more personality based than defensive scheme based. We currently don't have anyone good enough to play pure press man cover corner. I think the sack rate would benefit greatly from having a corner that sticks like glue to his man.

You could also argue that the real glue to Seattles secondary is Earl Thomas, whose incredible range and instincts help cover for some speed deficiencies elsewhere, including with Richard Sherman. I like HaHa but he's not Earl Thomas. Not a great fit for the cost.

Great point on Thomas with Sherman.

Imo compares to when we had Collins with Al Harris. Harris was a great Press Corner who wasn't the fastest, but won battles with football smarts and being physical until he lost a step.

The biggest question is has Sherman lost a step or not?

He would be better then anything currently on the roster if he hasn't lost a step. Whether you like his style or not would provide some much needed fire and leadership to our D.

There are no guarantees that one if the top Corners are still on the board at our pick and then the rookie learning curve. Having Sherman would make sense provided price isn't too high and speed there. We then could still draft a top Corner if one falls there or go another direction like OLB/ Pass Rusher and then improved 2 areas on the Defense
