Something to think about.

Bakh's salary for 2022 is higher than the rest of the offensive line combined.

Rodgers salary is higher than the entire starting offense, including Bakh.

In their minds, each player has to see how numbers add up, and it does point out exactly why when it comes time to be a free agent, they go where the money is. The distribution is horrible.

No Qb has won a SB when their cap number represents more than 13% of the total cap. Expect maybe Brady. GB has limited themselves to reg season division champs because they can't form deep enough talent on the roster with contracts like this IMHO.

It’s not the salary as much as contract structure and cap management. Mahomes and Watson are textbook examples. Low cap hit for 2-3 years then it’s either time to restructure or get released

Over the last decade or so you paid for talent at premium positions, QB, LT , CB and this year WR $$$ have exploded. Now more and more organizations use void years to manage the cap.

If you don’t pay up for premium talent at QB or LT or CB your alternative is not optimal. Every team has this issue not just GB. Just look at how many different organizations have won a Lombardi over the last 20 years. And the Covid cap issues was not something teams planned for and resulted in cap not keeping pace with salary / cap adjustments.

It's a big issue. But how many top-tier and top-paid Qbs win superbowls these days? None. It's the good Qbs on mid-tier contracts or rookie deals. Unless you are Brady in which case you've made team-friendly salary deals to lower your cap.

Like it or not the way to win a SB is not to pay your QB a large % of your cap. It will win you plenty of division titles and reg season stats.. But if your goal is the Lombardi it doesn't work.

Stafford also comes to mind. Sure Mahomes is the rookie exception. Brady was still at $50 guaranteed at signing for Tampa so it’s not like it was bargain basement either. And it’s not just QB. It’s LT and CB and now WR.

And if you pay a QB let’s say 50% of what #12 accounts for you sure as hell better invest heavily in a defense to carry you.

And GB seems to be moving in the direction of “defense first”.
I think they understand you won’t find the next Favre/Rodgers for possibly a whole generation.
Putting all your eggs in one basket, v Putting on a bunch of guys on defense. It makes sense. We got some really good players on rookie contracts right now too.

Well essentially we have one , Stokes. Gary is one his 4th year so it’s either an extension or 5th year option. The new kids in this draft class let’s wait and see
