PACKERS RETURN HOME TO PLAY THE EAGLES
The Green Bay Packers will take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday at Lambeau Field in their preseason home opener.
This will be the 15th time Green Bay and Philadelphia have met during the preseason. The Eagles lead the preseason series, 8-6.
The last time the two teams met was during the 2014 regular season, a 53-20 Packers victory at Lambeau Field that gave Green Bay a 25-14 lead in the regular-season series.
The Packers and Eagles last played each other during the preseason in 2002, a 20-13 home victory by Philadelphia. It is the Eagles’ first trip to Lambeau Field during the preseason since 1983.
Green Bay will play its final two preseason games at home for the second consecutive year and the fourth time since 2000 (2002, 2003).
The Packers’ final preseason contest comes on Thursday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. CDT, when they host the New Orleans Saints at Lambeau Field in the 55th annual Bishop’s Charities Game.

Stay healthy... can't afford more injuries this week.

Bob McGinn just had a nice article about a player to watch for this game, Josh Walker. He's been good as a guard but need to keep an eye on him when he moves to RT. Against Pitt he had one noticeably bad play when Bud Dupree blew by him but he was solid otherwise. Maybe he has some of that Tauscher-like ability to just get the job done at RT even if it's ugly. Keep an eye on him, because based on performance he could wind up taking Barclay's roster spot.

I will tell you what, if Walker keeps playing well, especially against better competition, Baktiari better watch his back next year.
From what I have seen from Walker (and I am not an expert by any means) he is very strong and has pretty good feet. Baktiari seems to not have that great of feet for tackle. Also, I think Walkers arms are longer than Baks, aren't they?

I don't think anything will happen this year but if he keeps improving we may have a battle at LT next year. sp)

That's why I was hoping Walker would get the start at LT, but it sounds like he is going to occupy one of the OG spots since neither Sitton or Lang will play. It would be a good opportunity to see him for a decent stretch of snaps against starting caliber players across the line. (Though he did get a nice number of RT snaps against a very talented Bud Dupree last week.)

I'm not sure Barclay is in jeopardy because quite frankly I've not seen enough from anyone else to challenge for the 8th spot on OL. Vujnovich isn't an NFL quality OT right now. Taylor and Gerhardt are what they are - so-so inside guys. Rotterham also seems like an OG and he needs a year. The best of the bunch after that starters are Walker, Barclay and Tretter and even that's based on the thought that Barclay will get back to form at some point as a serviceable RT/OG.

Walker >>>Oh boy another converted OG.... I am sorry but why can't we sign/draft OT that actually come in being OT.

As for Sat night GB is using this as a bubble scout game and protecting the starters, really interested to see how much that starting D plays though.

That's called MM and TT out smarting themselves. I agree .. want someone to play OT? Find an OT. .. you may find a guy here or there who can make the switch. But chance are you are not going to find that many who can..
