Post Game Thread : Packers Hang On And Defeat Chargers

The most telling stats from the game IMO:
- 3 for 9 3rd down efficiency
- SD 86 plays; GB 46
- Time of possession 38 min to 22 min.

When we needed a couple of first downs in the third quarter just to stem the tide a little bit we were going 3 and out. IIRC coming out in the second have was a three and out. It just seemed like after we went up easily in the first quarter scoring two TDs....we lost an edge. "Seemed" like we thought we had it. Granted, they were behind and throwing the ball, but that's what we want! We just didn't make any plays, maybe it would have changed if Shields would have corraled that one that hit him right in the mitts! It was just hard to watch, even though we were winning.

How in the world did we win this game? They had almost 200 more yards as well. They had the 1 turnover, but the Packers failed to capitalize. Penalties weren't that much in favor of the Packers. I don't quite understand how the scoreboard ended up the way it did. Oh well. We'll take it. sh))
 
Just watched a little bit of Aaron's press conference. I get the impression that he is not too crazy about Janis. He gave him his due but that was all. No enthusiasm in his voice.
 
I didn't understand not continuing to hand it off to Starks. They couldn't stop the guy...and yet, he only had 10 carries for an 11.2 YPC! Seriously...I don't get it. Did he get hurt too? sh))

They needed to keep Rivers and Co., off the field. The Packers have a ton of injuries at WR. They need to be able to run right now. They can...they just don't...and I find that confusing.
 
Oh, and this game may have been the best negotiating tool for Raji. They seriously missed him in this game!

you got that right. a seven point win that felt like a loss. and all of my fingernails are gone.

however i'm very confident (perhaps overly so) that we will not lose next week.

Now that I re watched the tape, Rivers was unbelievable. We did drop at least two INT's, though. That would have helped in time of possession and points given up.

I think the good news is the offense hopefully will look at this tape and realize they need to run more, throw short quick passes, and take the deep shots when applicable. FCC(
 
It isn't a matter of running more, or taking the check downs, or throwing deep more often. It is a matter of taking what the other team is giving. SD was giving up the run, then we need to run more not less. St. Louis was giving up the short stuff then we need to throw more of it. Next week will be different and we need to take what Denver gives us. Rodgers needs to not worry if he can trust someone as much as if he can get open. I agree Rodgers has seemed a bit off for a few weeks now. I know he misses the security blanket he had in Jordy but he needs to get over it and make the guys he has better like we all say he can do.

I should have communicated that better.

What I should have said is they should have given Starks more touches yesterday because it was working. AR needed to go to his check downs more but also trust his WR's. Janis was open a few times but he did not throw it to him. AR does need to get over those issues.
 
Say what you want about Favre, that's one thing Rodgers can still learn from watching his old films. He worked with what he had. If Bill Schroeder was on this team, he'd be everyone's favorite player because he'd never drop a pass. Because Aaron would never throw to him.

Now, maybe that's a good thing in a lot of ways, but the point is, people would never have learned to hate Schroeder as much as they did if Favre wasn't at least making it a point to spread the ball around and work with whatever he had on the field. Rodgers needs to pull the stick out of his butt and start throwing to the people who are open, rather than eat the ball or throw it over James Jones' head because he's covered but he's the only one Rodgers trusts. Worry more about making a play sometimes, rather than protecting the rock.
