Post Game Browns Beat Green Bay 13-10

I think ML and Gute screwed this up royally thinking that Jenkins could.play Center. I think this is where the problems with the oline start. Meyers was average but seemed to be able to call protections and at least hold is own most of the time.

I think they need to stop moving guys around and put them at a spot they are comfortable with. This line is a mess.
I don't put it all down to a talent issue. Elgton was out for a lot of camp injured, Banks was out most of camp injured, and then Tom got hurt in the first game. I think Jenkins is perfectly capable of being a much better center than Myers but these guys just haven't played together. Like, at all. And two of them are injured and ML keeps throwing the backups in at multiple spots, in this case different spots in multiple games. I can't judge the line under these circumstances, and I'm not going to make overall judgments on September 23.

They have to do better, everyone agrees on that. They played like a bunch of lifeless sad sacks and that's unacceptable. If they have any pride I expect to see it next week.

With regards to the o-line, are we sure some of this isn't a coaching problem (ie Luke Butkus or ... )?

They've used early picks, mid-round picks, and late picks. They signed a higher dollar FA and spent a draft pick on a veteran and they still aren't good. The best guy yesteday may have been Kinnard, who's had the lease exposure to the team's coaching.

I also question if it would make more sense to keep guys at one spot. For example, Kinnard is the first guy in if Tom goes down. Morgan goes in at either RG or LG. Belton is the back-up at LT. Might make for better continuity getting reps at one area all week/season. A big problem yesterday was picking up twists and stunts which seems like it depends on communication and guys knowing what each other is going to do. There were also apparently some technique issues - which might again point to coaching.
I have always disagreed with them having the OL players learning several positions. Have back-ups for each position if possible.

I rest my case with the above... I am tired of all the other BS about Love and ML. Nobody is going to look good with that shit blocking.. not Love not Fave not even Bart Starr.... can't run block and our pass blocking blows.

I screamed about it in OTA ..said it through camp and preseason and now here we are. If he doesn't go get some help, Love will be on IR by game 8.

Gute can go fix it or bury his head in the sand and screw up another season.

I agree with all of this, but I don't think immediate help will be forthcoming and if he does anything he's going to have to wait until teams start dropping down the standings. No contender is going to trade a starting OL or quality depth piece, but if a team is sort of middling and out of it, they may be more willing to move someone. Wouldn't expect a move until mid October-ish.

With you brother! It's too late to fix, and the players don't have the balls to do it.

But after recent events which got worse - intuitively some of you will get that - I don't give a flip. The Pack are just something to do while downing beers on Sunday

Well, most of us do not live in beautiful San Diego where we don't care about things other than the great weather and the pretty people!
I know there's more going on with life than that . . . . keeping things "real".

An OL is not something you can plug and play. The best OL are a group of guys that have been together for multiple seasons not just multiple games. Guys that are good at a specific position playing together.

You don’t get that if you’re consistently the youngest team in the league.

Jack of all trades master of none doesn’t work for an OL…
