If the team has Super Bowl aspirations, this is a great defense, and I actually thought that, until the INT, considering playing on the road against a really nasty DL who was crushing his OL, this was a really strong, savvy, veteran type game from Love. He never put the ball in danger, made good reads, got them a lead. After the INT he bounced back and got them right back into position to win and walk it off. I really need to see what happened on the INT because it was just head scratching.
Two things that will hold them back are OL and ST. I appreciate that they want to get their young OL reps and need to rely on them, but Morgan cannot play on the right side. He just looks different on the left versus the right. Three false start penalties, can't happen. And then Belton, I don't know if I noticed him all that much. I feel pretty confident that Kinnard is their best overall back up and they need to stop playing him at the bottom of that rotation. I agree with others, Gute needs to try to find another veteran to put out there because you can't have an OL that renders the offense nonfunctional. I thought Kinnard was a good pick up but that was for one spot and we're down two.
The other thing is ST, and frankly there's nothing to be done at this point. It will simply take luck to overcome the issues there, you just pray it doesn't bite too often.
