Perhaps Mr. Rodgers isn't declining afterall...

exactly. that's the part that i don't get. if i say anything at all in defense of rodgers, i am a fanboy and i'm wearing green and gold goggles. but other people can say he "played like crap" (even though his stats say otherwise) and that's just keeping it real.

let me give you some actual examples of playing like crap:

andrew luck 74.9 passer rating 15 tds vs 12 ints.
sam bradford 86.4 passer rating 19 tds vs 14 ints.
joe flacco 83.1 passer rating 14 tds vs 12 ints.

You misread the original post. "Fanboy" refers to the author of the article which is without a doubt what it is a fluff piece. It's not a personal thing just a sports forum.Rodgers is a pro QB getting chastised is part of it.

Very good article but the author did sort of gloss over the offensive issues in the 2014 NFC Championship game that prevented the Packers from having more than a 16-0 lead. The Seahawks turned the ball over 3 times in the first half and the Packers turned those three turnovers into a grand total of 6 points. Some of that is certainly on Rodgers not performing well since Rodgers threw two interceptions in the first half of the game as well.

He was way off the mark after the SD game when his rating dropped from 115.9 (ranked 2nd) during the first six games of the 2015 season compared to 81.9 (28th) over the last 10 games. So yes he was off in 2015 as a whole that is undisputable.

exactly. a sudden change like that is clearly due to an injury.

Was the knee that Aaron had cleaned out earlier in the same leg where his bad calf was in 2014?

I see why this article was written but to say AR played bad last year? I can't really say.

So 31 TD's and 8 INT's is a bad year? It is a bad year to his and our standards since he has played at such a high level. The key stat last year was his completion % was down 5%. Was that due to him or was it due to having a ton of WR's injured and they were running routes incorrectly? I have heard a number of you on here say that route running was an issue last year. That can also be the reason for the yardage decline. Oh and let's add all the drops by Cobb, Adams, and all the other WR's last year. We can also look at how the sacks correlate with the numbers. AR was sacked 46 times last year compared to 28 the previous year. A big difference. O-line issues as well as WR's and route running? Lastly the average yards per catch is down. We all know we did not have a down field threat last year after Jordy went down. Pretty simple, I would say.

I am not saying AR did not have a down year and could have played better but let's look at the whole picture before we start saying that he is the reason we only have 1 SB and that his skills are declining. That is just a ridiculous statement at this point and time when we have no proof of that.

There is my rant. imho(

When you're an elite QB, and paid like one, you don't get a free pass for anything. You make that much more $$ than everyone else for a reason. And with that your expectations are higher and the bar is raised.

A QBR of 92.7 for most people is not bad, true. But Arod is not most people. It was the worst QBR of his career as a starter. For a guy who consistently posts 100+ QBR's yes it was a down year, and not very good.

This is also where we can throw in that QB's get both more praise and more blame than they deserve for overall records etc.... Lets be honest Bill Belichik (spare the it's all because he cheats bullhooey) can out gameplan MM most days. MM has shown flashes, they did beat NE after all, however he's not nearly as consistent in his game planning. That being said, even the best QB cannot save you from a bad game plan or a bad defense.

But, like I said earlier he gets paid what he does for a reason. He has the highest salary for a reason. And as such he should be expected to keep his level of play up accordingly.

To be honest I think he's distracted.

Don't tell me you think he's distracted by his girlfriend...

He had a bad year - for him. It just shows he's human. Did we all question Favre's skills/personal life when he had those down seasons? I don't recall.

Yes he was questioned all the time... as was Majic man etc. Comes with the job.
