On one of the nicest November days around here in a long time, the Packers returned to practice Wednesday afternoon with only a few notable absences.
Cornerback Sam Shields (shoulder) and WR Ty Montgomery (ankle) both did not practice, although Shields did come out on the field after warmups and stood along the sideline. Shields injured his shoulder in the first quarter of the 29-10 loss to Denver Sunday night and did not return to the game.
Missing from practice was rookie FB Aaron Ripkowski. It's not known why he was absent.
Linebacker Clay Matthews (ankle) took part in everything during the session the media was allowed to watch and appeared to be close to full strength. He injured the ankle against the Broncos but returned to the lineup.
Cornerback Quinten Rollins (shoulder) took part in stretching, but he stood and watched during all the drills the media was able to watch. Rollins was knocked out of the Denver game, but coach Mike McCarthy said earlier in the day that he was optimistic Rollins would be able to do something at practice.
The workout was conducted in shells and was held later than usual because the Packers are coming off a night game.
The injury report should come out later this afternoon.
