Packers' roster skews young, again

Being young will always be part of the Packer's MO while TT is around. In part because they always let guys walk when they get to the wrong side of 30 and in part because he indeed doesn't take on many vets in FA.

Still if you look at the team, It's mostly veterans manning the starting spots.

O-line is a nice mix of youth and experience, with an fairly experienced Barclay as the first guy off the bench. Same with RB, FB and WR. Even TE has a veteran in Q as the starter.

On defense the starting DL has Daniels, Raji, and Jones, with a veteran Guion to back up. OLB has CM3, Peppers, Neal and Perry and all are experienced. Safety has a veteran and youngster.

The two positions where youth will absolutely have to step up are OLB where there is Barrington with "some" experience and then nothing. CB has a veteran in Shields and a guy with modest experience in Hayward - after that it's all guesswork as to how it'll turn out because none have taken a snap in the NFL. That is the one position I would have liked to see TT spend some money on a vet. The rest I'm fine with, in part because they can always use CM3 on the inside.

Where the youth always shows up biggest on this team in the bottom of the roster. They just don't ever seem to keep veterans who aren't part of the 2-deep so there are always 8-10 first year players are the bottom of the roster and that skews things young. We always talk about "where are you going to put that many rookies", but they always have a bunch of them rather than keeping marginal 3-4 year vets.
