Green Bay's rookie wideout may have suffered another setback with his troublesome ankle.

The chances of Ty Montgomery taking another snap for the Green Bay Packers this season looks slimmer by the day.

The rookie wideout missed practice on Thursday after participating on a limited basis the day before. The Green Bay Press-Gazette's Ryan Wood speculated that Montgomery may have suffered another setback with his ankle sprain, which has already cost him eight weeks. If so, the Packers have to determine whether to allow him another chance to work back from the injury or place him on season-ending injured reserve. If the latter, it ends a short but promising first year for the Stanford product.

Meanwhile, starting left guard Josh Sitton and top cornerback Sam Shields also missed Thursday's practice. Sitton, who also sat out Wednesday's session, still appears likely to play this weekend. Shields remains in the concussion protocol after suffering a head injury against the Dallas Cowboys the weekend prior. Whether he can return for the team's upcoming tilt with the Oakland Raiders depends on how quickly he advances through the process.
