Packers 2026/27 Season Thread

Packers trade Wicks to Philly for a 5th rounder this year (153) and a 6th next year. 2027 6th will be the worst between Philly and GB's picks. As GB had traded there 6th to Philly last year for Kinnard and Philly traded the rights to the better of the two picks to the Jets last season for a player.

GB saves $2.6 million in the trade.

I think it was a good trade. Some think GB should have gotten more but for a WR in last year of his contract who's had drop issues getting two picks is pretty good.

The Packers now this year will have 8 picks 2,3,4,5,5,6,7,7

The Packers in 2027 are projected to have 11 picks with 9 of them being day 3.

Value is fine and I understand the trade, but bottom line, for a team that has wanted more veteran presence at WR, they're now down to Watson and Reed. Golden and Williams are talented but there's risk here.

Agree with this, with GB injury history, I have to wonder if he was one of the vocal players in the locker room they wanted to move on from.
Common sense would say they draft a rookie, but maybe a vet in that WR room with some leadership skills would help more?

Agree completely, though I suspect if they bring in a veteran it will be a lower level #4/5 type guy. I think they want to give Watson, Reed, and Golden as many opportunities as possible. The first 2 because they want to figure out if they are worthy of long term extensions and with Golden they just want to figure out what they got for their 1st Rd pick.

I think this trade almost guarantees a WR pick in the draft. It's a pretty good draft for the size/speed guys that they like in Rds 3-5.

In my prediction threat I have them taking Ted Hurst round 3. Only thing I wonder if they take a WR that early is if they plan to extend Watson and they clearly think Golden is a starter do they expand draft capital on day two for a guy who would be WR3?

I see the concern with Wyatt but I honestly don't know who else it applies to. Parsons is all world regardless (injury recovery TBD and not relevant to scheme). LVN is a stand up edge, Hafley had him doing it last year. Cox arguably is a better stand up edge than pure 4-3 DE, that's sort of what I remember his draft profile saying. Frankly I don't think Gute went out of his way to really commit to that 4-3 front, they never tried to transform themselves into the 49ers front, as an example, personnel wise. Hafley still had both LVN and Gary standing up.

I don't like the Gannon hire overall precisely because I still see too much lack of talent, his success in Philly was player dependent up front, those guys were demons. ML seems to be the only coach who had a problem playing against his D in Arizona, I don't like all that zone stuff especially when CB1 right now is Nixon who has proven to be lazy and poor tracking the ball when it's in front of him.
I forget. Wasn't scheme the reason Smith left? Because he didn't fit into Haley's scheme?

You talking about Preston Smith? Yes, he requested trade because he did not like being a 4-3 DE and wanted to be in a 3-4 LB.
