Packers 2026/27 Season Thread

I hope Mark's right.

I doubt he is.

Regarding teams doing better than the Pack in regard to Championships which is how I value:

Superhole is 26 years old this year. The shirts refer to the teams playing.

The Pack has 1 appearance on the shirt:

The Cardinals and Bears and Saints have 1 appearance.

Those with more:

Patriots
9ers
Seahawks
Eagles
Giants
Broncos
Falcons
Panthers
Chiefs

25% of the teams have more SuperBowl Appearances.

10% have equalled.

Was there a better coach out there? I don't know.

But I do know the Pack just showed what it is. We're happy to be here. We're not concerned about Championships.

Instead of trying for greatness, they stuck with a GM always taking flyers on who's that hoping to show the world how much of a genius he is and a very smart football mind that doesn't get his team to perform.

Yes, I'm a disgruntled fan. I'm disgruntled because I dream of Championships more than weekly game revenue.

The Pack is 2 - 3 in the last 5 Bears games. 1 win was by a miracle finger. The other a miracle interceptiin.

Go Pack

I get it, but you've made your point. Two different polls in the last 24 hours have people agreeing with this extension, 85 and 86 %. So the crowd against it is a minority, to be sure. We shall see how it plays out.. sh))

I get it Keg, I really do and what I am about to say is gonna sound cliché but only 1 team can win it all and that team isn't gonna win it every year. Only so many teams get in each year to the playoffs as well. I get your stats but we also need to remember the days after Lombardi and before Holmgren.

Are there some things I wish were different or that the team needs to improve on? Sure but by me expecting championships every year, all that is doing is ruining my peace and I don't think it's a realistic expectation that I would have.

I want this team to have an identity. I want these players and coaches fired up and playing with intensity and a strong will to win. I want the front office to finally start getting their personnel acquisitions down and start hitting more on their picks.

In the end, ML deserves to be here but he also deserves a better roster and he also deserves any criticism for lack of finishing or toughness of his team.

Bottom line, the Pack is in good hands with ML. His record reflects that success.

And to be clear - 100% of that 85 and 86% is disappointed that they didn't win one with Rodgers in 2020-2021, or haven't gotten further with Love in the last 3 seasons. And 100% of those groups are embarrassed by how the game in Chicago played out.

I just think this team has lived too long in the world of "superstars who cover up roster warts". Your foundations are weak, you are destined to break under pressure. The better the opposing team, the more pressure gets put on your weak spots. I'm not making excuses for ML or the players and especially not the GM, it all has to be better.

Fully agree with this

Yup.

I'm still hoping you're right. I'll be the first to eat crow

From SI this morning:

The Packers did the right thing in reupping coach Matt LaFleur, and in working to do the same with GM Brian Gutekunst. To me, this was a no-brainer all along—but in today’s Fire Everybody environment, sometimes people have trouble seeing the bigger picture.

So let’s lay this out, in black-and-white terms:

• Over LaFleur’s seven years in charge, the Packers have gone 76-40-1. That’s a winning percentage that ranks 16th all time, ahead of Andy Reid, Sean Payton and Mike Tomlin, as well as LaFleur’s own close friends/old coworkers Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan. It’s also fourth among active coaches, behind only Nick Sirianni, Jim Harbaugh and Sean McDermott.

• LaFleur successfully helped the Packers navigate the end of the Aaron Rodgers era, getting two MVP seasons out of the future Hall of Famer, in 2020 and ’21, while he was at odds with the front office. LaFleur’s role as buffer in those years was absolutely invaluable—and came after there were a lot of questions over whether his scheme, which in the past hadn’t given much control to the quarterback, would even work for Rodgers.

• LaFleur helped to identify, draft and develop Jordan Love, putting the Packers in a place where they could seamlessly move from one era to the next, the same way they had gone from Brett Favre to Rodgers (though there was a little drama in both cases).

• And the people skills LaFleur displayed in those situations—managing Rodgers’s issues within the organization, and the transition to Love—have been apparent of late, in helping to enable the acquisitions that we cited in discussing Hafley earlier. Xavier McKinney and Micah Parsons have fit into LaFleur’s program, and that’s a credit to the coach.

Now, is there going to come a point where just making the playoffs (and the Packers have done that in six of LaFleur’s seven years, including Love’s first three years as starter) won’t be enough? Sure, that could eventually happen. But for now, he has what looked like a Super Bowl team at points earlier in the season—that lost Parsons, Devonte Wyatt and Tucker Kraft—coming back next year with one of the NFL’s best rosters.

Pulling the plug on that, to be frank, would’ve been malpractice. And we all know the Packers are a lot better than that.
