it never made sense to do one and not the other. I can argue that I think they can do better than Gute (they can do a lot worse as well), but the worst thing a franchise can do I think is have disjointed timelines for the GM and coach, you wind up in a pretty ugly cycle.

The thing is, he has made tackles like that. But he's soft. He wants to kick you when you're down and dog pile on, he has no fight when there's a real fight to be had.

ML was never going to sign a prove it deal. He knew his value and if GB would not pay it he would find it easily elsewhere. I am guessing somewhere in the $15 million a year ballpark in a 4 year deal.
