Packers 2022 Thread

From the packers.com website on the RB competition:

Head Coach Matt LaFleur has mentioned in recent days that special teams and pass protection will factor heavily into who wins the job, and that isn't lost on the combatants.
Perhaps Goodson and Taylor both get cut and someone picked up off waivers

Possible but unlikely. Familiarity with the system should factor in some
Kenyon Drake? Spent last year with Raiders could GB try to sign him after getting cut? He is 3rd down back and plays some ST?

I just realized something:

Why would the Jaguars trade for Cole Van Lanen when he could have possibly been cut anyway? Aren't the Jaguars the first team on the waiver wire anyway?

This makes absolutely no sense to me by the Jags. Unless I am missing something.

Could be worried another team offers a draft pick for him

They scouted and identified a player they wanted, he may've been cut by GB but he may have made the team, in which case they don't get the player. It takes time to develop OL and they are paying bare minimum draft capital for the time it took to get Van Lanen to where he is as a player (whatever that is).

I don't have feelings on the move one way or the other, other than my opinion that Van Lanen has played better than Hanson, Newman and Rhyan all camp.
