Official Preseason Game 2 Green Bay vs NY Jets Thread

He's out this week.
I don't really get it. He tweaked his shoulder, MRI scan completely clean. If there is no increased risk of hurting that shoulder I see no reason why he shouldn't play. He needs the reps and GB needs the info on him. Only thing I can think is that the team knows they need him as QB2 and they don't want to risk his availability down the road, but seems way, way over conservative IMO.

Meh they want to play it safe not take risk that a minor injury becomes a major one.

Or it's not as minor as they say....wouldn't be the first time GB or any other NFL team understated an injury.

Have they confirmed Love isn't playing? If so that really crushes any interest in this game. Still, a few positions to watch:

CB2,3,4 - Stokes will get more playing time, SJC will play a lot. Jackson was the easy mark in the past but we should get a good look at these other guys now and see who is ready to step in and get some serious playing time.

OL - Stenovich wasn't happy after last week and elevated Royce Newman to the starting RG spot. He had a good week of practice, and ff he plays well against a good Jets OD there is your likely starting RG.

RB - Kylin Hill has the #3 spot all but locked up, look for him to cement that status.

DL - Jack Heflin had a quietly nice game last week. Packers figure to keep 5 on the DL - Clark, Lowry, Keke, Slaton and... not sure about that last spot. It's been Lancaster's, Heflin could make a move for it, I also think this is a spot where Gute could target a veteran cut.
CB - Kabion Ento will be looking to lock up the final CB spot. He’s close to locking it already.
RB - still a chance that they keep 4 RB’s. With Hill the front runner for #3, it will be a horse race between Patrick and Williams.
DL - Keep an eye on Previlan. He made some plays last week and was making noise this week in practice. BTW, I like Heflin over Lancaster
OL - I still think they will at least try and trade Patrick rather than cut him. Just my gut.
TE - same goes for Sternberger

Biggest thing today will be Ashwaubenon's own James Morgan playing today at Lambeau Field

I think they only keep 3 RB's with Degurara back he is a HB/TE Patrick ends up on the PS. Williams is done he's had his chance.

Sternberger you don't have to do anything with him he's suspended to start the year so have time to hold off.

No team is trading for Patrick guy is at best questionable depth on a team that really has no clear cut quality starters at guard.

I think Patrick ranked in the top 20-22 OG’s last year. Hardly questionable, but there’s guys playing better than him right now, so why not try and get something rather than nothing.

What I'll be watching for:

O-line - Newman gets the start at RG. Van Lanen at RT? Newman is a lock to make the roster. It would be a small surprise if he starts at RG to start the season. If Van Lanen plays well for the next couple of exhibition games he just might get a roster spot. I figured him for the PS, but I've read where he's looked solid in camp at both OG and OT. He doesn't "measure" up at OT, but he's got the feet.

CB - without Jackson to muck things up it'll be interesting to see how things look with everyone down the depth chart moving up. Also be interesting to see if Yiadom is a viable roster option or just a camp body.

DL - Slaton and Heflin had some good moments last week. Slaton is likely a lock no matter what due to his draft spot, but Heflin could make a case for himself with a couple more good games.

There are a few other interesting positions, but I think most things are decided. WR really comes down whether they want a special teamer at #6 or Funchess, I think RB is set with Hill as the #3 unless they keep 4. TE is likely set with Sternberger suspended for a couple of weeks so they can decide later. OLB seems set and I don't see much in the way of a tough decision at ILB.

Listening ot the game on back home Patrick sounds like the 320th best OG guy is getting cut he sucks
