After a training camp unlike any experienced in recent time, the Packers will begin the regular season this Sunday at the Minnesota Vikings.
  • This marks the third time Green Bay will enter the regular season without playing a preseason or non-league game before the start of the regular season. It happened in 1931, a team that went on to finish No. 1 in the National Football League with a 12-2 record, and in 1933, when the Packers went on to finish 5-7-1.
  • The Packers open the season at the Vikings for the first time in team history, marking the third straight year that Green Bay will face a divisional foe in Week 1, which last happened in 1996-98 when the Packers were in the NFC Central.
  • Since the NFL went to a divisional format in 1967, it marks the first time the Packers have played a road divisional game in the opener in back-to-back seasons.
  • The last time the two teams met in Week 1 was in 2008 on Monday Night Football at Lambeau Field.
  • Of the past 35 regular-season meetings between the teams, 23 of those games have been decided by seven points or less.
  • The Packers have a 29-29 record in away games against the Vikings, including a 23-10 win at Minnesota last season.
  • Through 119 meetings, which includes two postseason contests (1-1), the Packers hold a 62-54-3 edge over the Vikings in the all-time series.
  • Of the past 35 regular-season meetings between the teams, 23 of those games have been decided by seven points or less, including a 21-16 victory by Green Bay last season in Week 2.
  • In 2019, Green Bay swept the regular-season series with Minnesota for the sixth time since 2002 (2011, 2010, 2007, 2006, 2004).
  • Green Bay (six) and Minnesota (four) have won 10 of the last 12 NFC North titles (2008-19).
  • The Packers stay in the division in Week 2, welcoming the Detroit Lions to Lambeau Field. It marks the third consecutive year that the Packers will open the season with two NFC North games.

RODGERS AND THE VIKINGS
  • Including the postseason, Green Bay is 14-8-1 against Minnesota with Aaron Rodgers as the starting quarterback.
  • In 23 games as the starter against the Vikings (including playoffs), Rodgers has completed 497 of 734 passes (67.7 percent) for 5,732 yards, 44 TDs and seven INTs with a passer rating of 107.1. His passer rating is the highest of any opposing starting quarterback (min. 200 att.) vs. Minnesota (Drew Brees, 102.3 / Jay Cutler, 92.4), according to pro-football-reference.com.
  • Rodgers has recorded a 100-plus passer rating in 13 of his 23 starts against the Vikings (including the postseason) and a rating of 94-plus in 16 contests.
  • In the last 16 games versus Minnesota (including playoffs), Rodgers has thrown 22 touchdowns and four interceptions.
  • Rodgers is the only player to have four games with four-plus touchdown passes with zero interceptions against the Vikings. No other quarterback has more than two.

Who’s going to start next to Kirksey at ILB?
Summers?
Raven Greene?
With Dalvin Cook looming this is my biggest concern.

No one I think they go a lot of 1 ILB like they did last year play a extra DB. Summers is horrible should be ST only.

yeah, they are more of a 3-3-5 now. but they do still run about 25% of their plays in 3-4. but if gary is really looking as good as we've been told, maybe the plan is to use the smith brothers plus gary and kirksey. two outside linebackers, one edge and one inside linebacker. or maybe they just platoon summers and burks and hope for the best.

I can see this does Gary become a inside rusher or do they try to overload one side and put two edge rushers on one side

I'm picking the Vikings on this one. I see it 27-20. It's difficult deciding if the offenses or defenses will be the deciding factor in this game. We've seen nothing on either team, or side of the ball, in a preseason.

I thought I heard Burks was dinged.
Didn’t see his name listed by Silverstein, so either I’m wrong or he was cleared to practice

Not even sure how to predict this one. We really have nothing to go by but if Cook and the Vikings unleash what the 9ers did in the NFCCG, then it's gonna be a long day for the Pack.

I'll still pick the Packers 24-13
