The Bears and the Packers are taking polar opposite strategies in building their LB corps. Gonna be veeeery interesting to see how the two crews compare when the bullets fly.
GB has drafted and kept it's own, except for street UFA Peppers (Joe Thomas hardly had time to unpack in Dallas before returning).
Da Bears have signed a #¤%&load of UFAs: Two ILBs this year, and still have OLBs McPhee, Willie Young and Lamarr Houston left from last two years' UFA haul. Heck, out of their notables, only UDFAs Christian Jones and Jonathan Anderson are home-grown.
Looking at Chicago, two things struck me:
1) Chicago has sucked massively at drafting LBs. Jon Bostic, Khaseem Green, Shea McClellin.... Wow! Their last good LB pick was Lance Briggs in 2003! And it's not much better even if you include pass rushing DEs...
2) They haven't had a chance to draft many, because of how very few draft picks they've had. 2010-2015, they averaged just six picks per draft. During same period, the Packers averaged 8.8. We've had whoppin' 17 more picks in 6 years than them! Both teams have 9 this year.
Oh yeah,
