McCarthy to Lacy: Get your fat butt in shape or you won't play

Reports saying Packers want Lacy to lose 30 pounds.

It's a bit concerning after so many good seasons that he would let himself go like that. Makes me wonder if there is something mental going on.

It's a contract year so if he doesn't show up in top shape think he's on his way out...

Read a story a while back were he said he never runs might go out for a job every now and then but that's it. Also he loves his mom's cooking and fast food. Probably at the point were his metabolism is slowing down and he can't eat everything he wants and not gain any wait like he and everyone else used to do in their early 20s.

Lacy is classic kid who was always better than the other kids on the playground and never had to deal with much adversity. Learned a hard lesson this year that you can't be lazy and do what you want and still expect to succeed in the pros. Have a couple guys like that on this roster IMO

Doesn't seem like something "suddenly" happened, but rather something that has been building for awhile. I seem to recall questions on him both his rookie year and 2014 training camp that he "looked a little heavy". In each of those cases it was probably an extra 5-10 pounds, some of which he lost during camp and as the season progressed. This year it was probably an extra 15-20 pounds when he got to camp and that became more of a problem. Probably not helped by the fact that he didn't seem to take it seriously and just stuck to his crappy diet. Hopefully it hits home this off-season that the next contract won't come if he keeps this up.

MM and Eddie Lacy should have a contest. See who can drop 30 pounds first.

Um no ... >>>
The Green Bay Packers' new running back is not truly happy, fulfilled. That alluring smile masks an emptiness Lacy cannot quite explain. He isn't sure if he'll be happy, how to be happy. National titles at Alabama didn't do it. Getting drafted into the NFL was a relief, a blessing, not much more. A legion of fans worshipping at his altar in college? Lacy shrugs.
Then, he points to 2005.
[BCOLOR=#ffff00]That year, Hurricane Katrina bashed through the levees and swallowed Lacy's home in Gretna, La. The cookie-cutter narrative is that a tragedy made Lacy tougher, wiser, fully equipped to take on the world with the blunt force of a lowered right shoulder. And to a degree — on the football field — that's true. He learned to "run angry." Football became Lacy's sanctuary.[/BCOLOR]
But to Lacy, touchdowns and championships and celebrity have been Advil fixes to an illness with no cure. At least Lacy hasn't found the cure yet.
He's searching. He's hopeful

Living through Katerina makes him a tough son of #%$%.... Where was GB exercise and health guru that was supposed to keep all these guys eating right ? Remember the big deal about all that BS was going to curb injuries ???

Lacy needs to start taking in less calories and get busy at the Gym pretty soon. Put it this way, if he doesn't get the ball rolling we'll all know in just a few months. I mean, dropping 30 pounds doesn't happen over night.
Training camp isn't that far off and if he shows up looking like he's still all chubby, we're gonna be mighty disappointed.
