You're right. They have been using Burnett in that capacity, but he's playing it from a defensive back perspective. I would be more inclined to look at the role being filled by someone who would be primarily a linebacker. Burnett is roughly 6-1, 210#. Just a little light for the job. It's a difficult role to fill. But he does a great job based on his size.

I'm looking at a 3 down inside linebacker who can cover when needed. Someone in the 235 to 240# range, with 4.50 speed, or below. Maybe 6-3 and above, who is difficult to throw over. A guy who can win jump balls against TEs and big WRs.

Not many of those guys around I fear. If you get one, you hang onto them.

You make a good point about him playing that position a little too often. I think he's taking a pounding because of it.

I think he was figuring he'd get a better answer from AR than MM.

Someone asked MM about it yesterday, but he answered in coach-speak. Roles, gotta be ready, personnel groups, flow of the game, etc., etc.

Standard MM answer. Surprised he didn't follow up with the gushing over how well Abby runs routes as if to throw out a bone.
 
He may have the club off but Zook needs to go over the rules about running out of bounds on the coverage teams.
 
Ron Zook is the third of three straight ST coaches that are worthless. I've watched Zook coaching since he was at the University of Illinois, and he's not a good coach.

For some reason, McCarthy keeps this chain of worthless coaches in his organization, and I don't get it. Mike Stock, Shawn Slocum, & Ron Zook.

Stock was worthless as a coach before he got to GB. Why he got hired in the first place, I'll never know. Slocum learned from Stock, so you know where that's going. Zook still hasn't figured it out. I remember his being fired from Illinois. Called the worst coach they'd seen in history. Now, he's ours.... Gawd!

I believe Zooker has worked with MM in New Orleans. We could probably have a separate thread on the subject of MM's choices in assistants. I think he takes loyalty to a new level. Maybe he likes to surround himself with "yes" men? It would be interesting to see what others thoughts are on the subject.
 
I thought last year special teams was great and everyone was on the Zook bandwagon. Not sure what happened in a year but things aren't as good as they were last year for sure.
