That was @rpiotr01 's take and he was spot on. Bold move by ML and I like it.
 
I have to admit this surprised me. For an org that craves stability and the players that stuck up for him I figured he’d get another year.

Now Gb has to bring in a guy who can set an impression right away and win over the locker room.

Leonard would be a mistake I think. I don’t think his skills match his name recognition. Now Wink? Absolutely get that done today.

Probably boiled down to Barry not being able to maximize the talent he had to work with.
 
I think if Leonhard does not get job as TW said the homer fan base will be upset that one of their "own" did not get the job. Like all fan bases many of the fans think with their hearts instead of the mind. Since Leonhard did not get the job at WI just seems some of his shine has wore off as him being this up and coming coach. Now if GB was in a rebuild were you were going to build a who new defense up and had time you maybe consider him but GB surprised everyone. They showed they can contend now. With that I think you need to get a DC who knows his way around the NFL can come in and hit the ground running and have a new scheme he can use to be effective next year so this team can still contend like it showed it can.
 
Let me just counter the Leonhard argument with this - he's not a homer pick. He was the finalist once before for ML and turned it down - that wasn't the homer fans doing that. I think Leonhard made a mistake not coaching last year. His name has cooled off. He would bring a different style as he's more aggressive with his front 7 and tends to use more man coverage with his corners. I don't think they should hire him but it's not like he's not a legit option. At this point I think he needs to figure out what he really wants to do with his career and find a good college DC job.

I didn't even know he was coaching in the league....figured you might want LeRoy Butler
 
So name that has not been talked about. I know he was not a very good HC but how about Ron Rivera as DC?
